Loved talking to @slug_town about the need to push beyond conversations about whether certain diagnoses are concretely ‘real’. We should interrogate *how* they are constructed, the purposes that they serve, and allow people to consent to either using or rejecting diagnoses.
Great as always @slug_town - for dopamine mythbusting and surplus population mistreatment through myths of CALVINIST BIOLOGY read now✨🐌https://t.co/o5weJaexNd

"dopamine deficiency" is a flimsy metaphor for human experience held up by science jargon. There's no way to quantify your dopamine, and you can't get your levels tested. That doesn't stop some companies from trying to sell you "neurotransmitter tests", though!
"hormone imbalance" has become the new "chemical imbalance" which goes all the way back to the "humor imbalance" that hippocrates wrote about in fuckin ancient greece! but the reality is, our health and our humanity are both far more complex and dynamic than that.
