My album MANTRA got removed from all streaming platforms. I got a takedown and a strike just because of one sample on one track. The Arista/Sony bots had DistroKid fuck me over after 6 years. It’s still up on soundcloud, bandcamp and youtube, and it’s on the internet anyway. Once it’s online, it’s never really gone. Just look for it if u want.
It could be like youtube, where most fucking major labels use Content ID to redirect the royalties to themselves and everyone moves on. No need to take anything or anyone down.
I’m not sad about it. That’s the game. I committed the terrible crime of sampling without telling anyone, apparently I’m the only person who does that, right? Whatever. It was worth it.
I’ve seen other underground artists getting tracks and albums removed too. The fucked up part is that DistroKid doesn’t even tell you. I only found out why because I contacted support and asked.
I’m switching distributors as soon as I get this project going again. Seven years of giving these assholes money and they can’t even send a fucking warning. The shit just disappears.
But I’ll do better next time. When I can. I’ve been really busy these past few months building a bunker and astral projecting into your sister’s bedroom. see u soon :*
