Took the time today to reach out to the Media Specialist at my school about an idea that's been brewing during a course I'm currently completing. Not only was she extremely helpful she was super excited to get me started down my new path! #collaboration#552peru#LibrariansRock
@drpelearn Our local HS has an unofficial Cry Club. You only get to join if you've cried at school. The club meets at lunch in one of the math teacher's classrooms. #edutopiachat
A5 Listen and donโt talk โ unless absolutely necessary. When students have a problem or what they perceive as a problem (and every problem is a crisis) give them the space to talk and express what they need โ which may eventually come, just not right away. #EdutopiaChat
A5: Instill in them the belief that strong feelings in middle school are NORMAL and should be embraced and reflected upon, not suppressed. Only then can true growth in multiple areas be attained! #EdutopiaChat
A4: The idea that anything less than 100%, 100% of the time, is abject failure. Perfection is unattainable and real success is derived from perseverance and "fail" - First Attempt In Learning! #EdutopiaChat
A3: Fostering listening skills and the desire to work in groups/collaborate to share ideas, thoughts and solutions. Acceptance of different ideas is something that middle schoolers continually need to work on! #EdutopiaChat
A2: Having students understand self regulation is not an avoidance of failure but embracing your own individual strengths and weaknesses as part of a greater whole. #EdutopiaChat
A1: By talking with students about why they are learning, what they are retaining, and what level of understanding they are currently at in their mathematics. #EdutopiaChat

I decided to try something different for an assessment instead of traditional paper and pencil mathematics. My middle school Ss are so excited about a choice board! It's giving me new insight into what they're actually learning and how they can apply it. #552peru
@TylerStender1 It's definitely hard to break comfortable patterns, but when you have an early win it certainly inspires you to try more often! Amazing work! #552peru#552Bobcat
