Our partners at Small Steps Project (@SmallStepsDocs) provided our camps with 27 knitted booties for the babies and toddlers in our camps. 15 were given in Refaat Alareer Camp, 7 in Batoul Camp and 5 in Sawarha Camp.

The knitted boots are made in Gaza by a lady in Khan Younis. Supporting local businesses, especially women-led ones, is a main goal at The Sameer Project. On March 18th, The Sameer Project team distributed 100 pairs of shoes to the kids in Ansar Camp 4, Gaza City. Each shoe cost $20.35, including the 11% commission, so the total was $2,035 - paid by Small Steps Project. The chocolate cost $64 with commission.

New outfits and shoes are commonly bought for the first day of Eid but unfortunately many parents in Gaza can’t buy that. So your support allowed us to provide Eid shoes with some games and chocolate as well!

These are some of the issues that are plaguing camps all over Gaza, but particularly in the dilapidated and destroyed North. And from these conditions arise even more problems…diseases, sicknesses, even viral and bacterial conditions that can lead to death.

These Sameer Project believes that by solving some of these root causes of the problems Gaza is facing, then we can prevent more suffering. This is why we now have a medical committee, made up of our doctors and nurses and medical coordinators, that go from camp to camp and assess the situation.

We then take this data and make recommendations such as providing more clean water, rebuilding bathrooms, building a trench for sewage water, pest control, cleaning up garbage, and more. Our team will then take action and follow through on what needs to be done. Improving the camp, and stopping the problems, thus preventing more pain.

Just a couple of nights ago, yet ANOTHER baby died from hypothermia. Unable to withstand the freezing cold temperatures in the family’s tent. https://t.co/jw67Ah9X72.

These are tragic and preventable deaths. Tents are not made to withstand the rain and wind and certainly do not insulate to provide warmth during the winter. Families need proper structures to keep warm, so more babies do not die. To combat the cold given the current situation in tents, The Sameer Project has been focusing on distributions warm baby and children’s clothings.

With our partner @smallstepsproject, we provided 62 ultra warm and lined baby onsies to Aslan Camp in North Gaza. These zip up suits cost almost $15 and are waterproof and have a hood for ultimate protection. The distribution at this location cost $860 after 9% commission (the purchase was in December before the commission raised), and we bought many more to give out.

If you watch closely in most of our videos, in so many other’s videos showing life in Gaza, you’ll notice it seems like nearly half the children are walking around barefoot. https://t.co/jw67Ah9X72. In the cold, on the rubble, through the flooding when it rains, they do not have protective footwear.

During the winter they need waterproof sneakers and boots to keep them warm and to protect them from stepping on sharp objects or from getting skin rashes from the sewage water or chemicals in the rain runoff.

On December 31, Translating Falasteen (@translatingpal) x The Sameer Project provided 200 sturdy shoes to children in Al-Taawun Camp, North Gaza. Each pair of shoes cost around $14 and we sized them according to the children’s needs. The total cost of the distribution was $2,770 including 9% commission.

On December 17th, the Translating Falasteen (@translatingpal) x The Sameer Project distributed 135 pairs of shoes, in collaboration with Small Steps Project (@SmallStepsDocs). Total cost was around $1,962, including 9% commission.

The Sameer Project will continue to bring aid to Jabalia and Beit Lahia. Unfortunately Shujaiyah has been bombed several times, even outside of the yellow line. Even today several people were bombed and killed in Shujaiyah.

Safa camp is surrounded with hills of trash that many of the kids climb to find food or plastic. This is precisely why we chose this camp and provided waterproof high quality boots to protect their little feet.

With a rainstorm expected to start this week and temperatures dropping significantly, we need your support to keep providing boots and shoes for little kids. We got boots for $14.50 each but prices fluctuate depending on how much shoes are allowed in by the military occupation for the commercial trucks.

The Sameer Project went back to the Quran School in Mahaba Camp to provide the kids with waterproof shoes! This was done in collaboration with our partners at Small Steps Project (@SmallStepsDocs).

The cost for each pair of shoes for $14.50 with 9% commission, and 61 shoes were given to the school kids. So the total cost was around $885.

Shoes are critical for children in Gaza as many walk barefoot on the rubble and in the cold weather. The Sameer Project is hoping to do another bulk purchase soon with your support.

In collaboration with Small Steps Project (@SmallStepsDocs), the Translating Falasteen (@translatingpal) x The Sameer Project distributed 150 pairs of shoes in Tal El Hawa, Gaza City, on December 15th. The shoes were given to kids in Al Fares Camp that is underserved and most of the children are barefoot.

Each pair of shoes cost $14.50 and is waterproof. So the total for the 150 pairs of shoes is around $1,450 including 9% commission.

The Sameer Project found high-quality sneakers for $17 each and we’re hoping to purchase a large quantity for multiple camps. For only $17, you can provide protection for a child from rubble and the cold!

It’s pouring right now in Gaza. God help all the families living in tents. We anticipate incredible suffering through the next few days of rain during Winter Storm Byron. https://t.co/jw67AhauWA.

The scenes of flooding and tents submerged in sewage water will be worse than the first storm faced. Since that first storm our number one request from residents in encampments has been to bring them sand. Truckloads and truckloads of sand. This allows the ground to be leveled and drained so that there are no depressions and holes for rain runoff to rush towards.

Here is an area in Al-Daraj, North Gaza that got drowned during the last storm. Families found the water pouring into their tents because they were in a low lying area. They asked for us to bring sand to flatten the land. Each truck load of sand, which includes the rental and fuel to bring it, costs
$1,010 after 9% commission. And you can imagine how many will be needed in the upcoming days.
