@ausstockchick I seriously envisage a division of the country. The western and northern states will de federate and form their own federation which will be rich with resources, conservative and hard working mindsets and a small low tax government. It’s untenable for many to continue as we are.

Has anyone considered the growth of negative gearing, and the property investor, is merely a function of the middle class trying to escape oppressive unindexed income tax rates. Index income tax to the equivalent of that in the 80s. Up gst. Reduce cgt. Tax consumption.

@GadSaad Thirty percent in my opinion the tipping point of disincentivising productivity. However the model is broken. Government should tax consumption, not production. They should incentivise productivity. Big government is a bad governance model in the modern world. Breeds socialism

@linzcom They only raised the threshold for the active asset cgt discount. They didn’t do all four small business cgt discounts. Old limits apply including a net asset value test. It’s trickery.
