Just returned from the @RoyalCdnLegion Normandy/Belgium tour. We made a special detour to Bretteville-Sur-Laize Canadian Cemetery to do a grave rubbing for a friend’s uncle, who fell at Juno Beach. Honored to bring this home for her. #RemembranceDay

Fifty-nine years ago today, Burnaby Cst. Terry Tomfohr lost his life in the line of duty. The 19-year-old was just three weeks into his RCMP career when he fell from a cliff while responding to a call. We remember and honour his service.

The #VPD’s newest officers were sworn in today as part of our Retired Police Officer Program.
This program provides experienced retired officers with the opportunity to return to operational policing on a contract basis. It allows them to continue serving the community, share their knowledge and experience with newer officers, and stay connected to frontline policing without the commitment of a full-time career.
We are proud to welcome these dedicated professionals back to service.
We're hiring. Learn more: https://t.co/dK0wmGxTKt

Today is the Day of Remembrance for the Children Killed by Russia. Officially, it has a different name. But in the language of truth, this is exactly what it is. This day is about the most painful episodes of the war, about the greatest injustice and the evil Russia inflicts when the most vulnerable and the most innocent are killed. Children.
Currently, that figure is at least 707 Ukrainian children. And there are also thousands of children whom Russia has wounded, abducted, and thousands of children whose fate remains unknown. These are important and horrifying figures, but behind them lies something greater than statistics about Russian crimes alone. These were children's dreams, plans, and hopes that were simply erased. This is the pain of every mother and every father who does not know how to go on living with that. Living with such pain.
Our Ukrainian children. Some were only a few days old. Some had just started first grade. Others should have been celebrating their graduation. This is who a sick state is waging war against. This is who the so-called second army of the world is fighting – an army incapable of winning on the battlefield and seeking to assert itself by targeting children.
Eternal memory to every child who was killed. It is our enduring duty to remember, to protect our children, and to do everything possible to ensure that the evil Russia has brought is punished.
I wasn’t born in Canada but you’ll find no more grateful Canadian than me. Canada gave me opportunity, a beautiful natural environment, kind friends, community & peace after childhood in a country ravaged by religious and political hatred. Maple MAGA & Poilievre have it all wrong
Yesterday in Charlottetown, #hfxfirefighters Vice President and Atlantic Provinces Professional Fire Fighters Association President Joe Triff participated as a panellist at the Wounded Warriors Canada First Responder Mental Health Conference, co-hosted by Trillium Health Partners – Insight Health Solutions.
Joe spoke about the lack of appropriate mental health resources available to many fire fighters and the impact staffing and deployment decisions can have on member well-being. As an example, he highlighted that the Capital City of PEI relies on just three full-time fire fighters daily—well below recognized industry standards and best practices.
When fire fighters are continually asked to do more with less, it affects more than emergency response. It takes a toll on the mental health and well-being of those who answer the call.
Thank you to Wounded Warriors Canada, Trillium Health Partners, and all conference sponsors for bringing attention to this important issue.
Our message is clear: we're making Brampton and Peel Region the most inconvenient place in Canada to commit a crime.
We've now successfully installed 50 state-of-the-art 360° cameras across the city, supporting more than 200 police investigations in six months since the first cameras were deployed.
By working closely with Peel Regional Police and investing in innovative technology, we're taking a proactive approach to protecting our neighbourhoods, supporting law enforcement and disrupting organized crime.
Unfortunately, the current level of supplies for our air defense does not allow us to intercept a significant share of missiles. Last night, there were hits. 130 people were injured. Tragically, 22 people were killed, including two children. My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones.
We know from intelligence that another large-scale strike may come as soon as tonight. All our partners together, and everyone in Europe, should continue working to ensure missiles for our air defense, as well as the systems, critical intelligence, and other things that help to save lives.
It is crystal clear that Europe needs its own anti-ballistic system with sufficient volumes and strength to guarantee protection against any threat.
We are gathering today to mourn the loss of Vancouver Police Sergeant Craig Reynolds, whose life was cut far too short by a devastating illness. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and loved ones, as well as the many colleagues who had the privilege of serving alongside him. His passing is a profound loss to all who knew him.
Craig dedicated his life to serving others. During his nearly 20-year career with the Vancouver Police Department, he worked in Patrol, General Investigation, Robbery, Assault & Arson, Youth Services, Community Policing, and as the Business Liaison. Most recently, he served with the Retail Crime Task Force, where his hard work and vision made a meaningful impact on violent retail crime and community safety.
Craig was the kind of leader and colleague everyone hoped to work with. He genuinely cared about the people around him, always making time to support, mentor, and encourage others. He was deeply committed to his profession and to the community he served, but above all else, he was devoted to his family, who were always his greatest priority.
Craig leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, compassion, and integrity. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

"We don't welcome the world's hatreds"
"When you come to Canada you bring your faith, your tradition, your language, your story - you leave behind your animosities"
