We are devastated to learn of the death of Matthew Best (6 February 1957 – 10 May 2025). His outstanding recordings across the 1980s and '90s with the Corydon Singers have more than stood the test of time and are a foundational cornerstone on which Hyperion's renown was built.
Just arrived! A stunning & powerful new song cycle by @gavhiggins about place, identity & what it means to be northern. Featuring poems by the Brontë sisters alongside brilliant contemporary voices. 1st performances this summer @BrittenPears@ryedalefestival & many more to follow
I always have the deepest respect and admiration for colleagues who are piano tuners and technicians. Please support this petition if you can.

Totally agree @roseandfriends . This is such sad news indeed. I’ve spent a lifetime in awe of his special musicianship and lovely nature from our early days in the @NYO_GB onwards. I can’t believe that he’s gone
So sad to hear about the news of David Watkin
A great man and BRILLIANT musician.
His Bach ‘cello suites illuminate and inspire every time I listen, which is often!

1/3. It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear colleague and friend David Watkin has passed away.
David was one of the finest cellists of his generation - a master soloist, chamber musician, orchestral leader, and conductor.
What is the matter with this Labour Government. Their actions are beyond words as they choose tech companies and generative AI over home grown UK creative industries. I used to be a Labour voter but no more @ISM_music

We announce with great sadness the death of our much loved Musical Director, Ronald Corp, on 7th May in Bath. Just last autumn, we celebrated Ron's 40th anniversary at the choir. He was a highly talented musician, composer, conductor and chorus master — and a great friend. RIP

#GustavHolst as you’ve probably never seen him before, more like @davidhockneyart than his usual Harry Potter look. This photo was taken during his happy visit to @AnnArbor@UMich in 1923 and seems appropriate to wish all his supporters happiness in NY2023 @HolstMuseum@HolstSoc

End game in Montreal, but plans too weak, including 30% target, which now not 30% protected on land & 30% on sea but 30% overall. Also species content too weak on extinction & abundance. Calls for ambition on finance must be matched by stronger ambition for Nature recovery #COP15
We debated regional arts funding yesterday. It might sound great to say 'give more money to the arts in North', but it is always done in the utilitarian guise of creating jobs and regenerating areas - never based on the quality of art. How condescending to red wall audiences...
At @Thehexagon this evening with @rpoonline and came across our next concert in our 22/23 season in Reading.
Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations will be on the programme!
