For all my #Harlem folks:
My dad has been missing since last night. He has dementia so he may be disoriented or agitated.
Last seen wearing all black with tan shoes.
If anyone has seen him, please hit me at 646-812-0518
Enough already, @loveislandusa. KC’s tattoo references Maya Angelou’s Still I Rise. Turning it into a joke instead of understanding the reference is tone-deaf. The bias we’ve called out all season keeps showing itself. Do better. #LoveIslandUSA
I’m curious to know if the girls would still feel the same once they hear all of the conversations KC and Aniya has had and how much reassurance he’s given her and how her self doubt has been draining 😕
I legit had to explain this in the family group chat one day after I got the “when are you gonna get married?” inquiry. My brother is now determined to raise his kids differently.
They shooting the messenger, but she ain’t wrong. Dating and sex were heavily demonized in a lot of our homes. We were told to stay away from boys and focus on school. The problem is that relationships are a skill set too and many Black women were prepared for careers but left to figure out dating, boundaries, and healthy partnership on our own.
I’m in love with this quote:
"If God can take away something you never imagined losing, then surely God can grant you something you never imagined gaining." 🕊️
Shoutouts to the people who advocate and defend me without me having to ask. I truly appreciate it because it really doesn’t happen often but when it does I feel seen. Thank you 🙏🏾
I once knew someone who spent most of their life being “strong.”
The dependable one. The one everyone called. The one who never complained, never broke down, never asked for help.
They carried everyone else so well that people forgot they needed carrying too.
One day, in the middle of a normal conversation, they said quietly,
“I don’t even know what it feels like to be taken care of.”
Not in a dramatic way. Not for attention. Just… truth.
And it stayed with me.
Because sometimes strength isn’t a gift
it’s something people are forced into until it becomes the only version of them anyone recognizes.
And by the time they get tired…
no one notices.
33 has taught me that I need to be alot more specific because when I said “I feel like something big is gonna happen” this was def not the kind of big I was talking about.
Not this lady causing a scene at the gym because they told her the showers were closed after they announced it multiple times that the showers will be closing at 11:45 today. In she comes at 11:50 demanding to take a shower and that she’ll only be 8 mins 😒
