SUCCESS! After FBU members in Hampshire & Isle of Wight campaigned against £1.6m cuts, the Fire Authority has delayed the cuts, buying crucial time to secure funding.
All eyes are now on local MPs and central government to step up and secure funding for HIWFRS.

ADAM TAYLOR ON THE ROAD
Throughout the FBU National Officer election campaign, I've met members on fire stations and control room’s across the UK from Altens, Aberdeen, to Belfast, Rhyl, and Dartford, listening and sharing my vision.
As an active East Midlands FBU official, I understand the vital role of member engagement. We must continually gauge member perspectives on union efforts and inform them of ongoing developments.
Key themes have emerged from these discussions. Communication must evolve to meet members' expectations in 2025. Addressing firefighter health issues like cancer and advocating for presumptive legislation is paramount. Regional disparities in fire service cuts and unsafe crewing levels are pressing concerns, and not forgetting pension justice.
If elected, I pledge unwavering visibility and support. Wherever you serve in the UK, I'll stand with you, ensuring our voices are heard and fighting for the issues that matter most.
Visible before, during, and after the election — committed to your priorities.
🚨🚨 📣 Calling all FBU members: Now’s your time to Vote!!
Ballot papers have landed, and I am asking FBU members for your vote. With huge support right across the UK, not voting and sending off your ballot could be the difference in electing me or not.
With kept commitments, wins, tireless representation and visible leadership, I offer the experience and credibility a fighting FBU officer needs to fulfil the role.
Make sure your vote counts, don’t delay, post today.
Voting closes on the 8th July.
📣 🚨 Calling all FBU Members 🚨 📣
This week, ballot papers will be landing at your home address, where every member will have an opportunity to vote in the FBU National Officer election.
A crucially important role, a role which requires a reliance on experience to deliver on the priorities of members, I am asking for your vote.
I have set out my reasons on why a vote for me is a vote for: action, results and accountability. Through various leaflets, face to face meetings and huge widespread support from officials advocating for me, my message has been clear and consistent.
I stand for:
• Experienced leadership
• Effective campaigning
• Honesty, transparency and accountability
• A commitment to every member, with Equity and Equality in my forethought
• Deal with the issues and priorities that matter most to members
Over the coming days and weeks, I’ll continue to meet with members, share my message on why I am asking members to vote for me, and continue working tirelessly for members in my current role.
Our union needs to continue progressing, needs to move forward, and I believe I am the right candidate to help with doing so.
I would like to thank everyone for their support so far, and most importantly, I encourage every member to be involved in the election of their National Officer.

@AdamT9372 was there for Suffolk when we needed solidarity, and Suffolk's Brigade Committee feels he still shows all the great attributes we need to see in a National Officer. This is why Suffolk's Brigade Committee have chosen to endorse Adam in his campaign!
Today we remember those who tragically lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster 36 years ago.
The thoughts of everyone at Nottingham Forest are with all those who have been affected. ❤️
My take on what it takes to be a National Officer in the FBU. ✍️
With National Officer (NO) remits covering;
Legal, which includes running ballots, inquiries and general legal services
Pensions
Equalities
Organising
Education
Supporting brigade and regional committees providing them the guidance and answers they need
H&S
ULF
Trade sections
Running IUD hearings and running representation appeal hearings
Internationalsm
Staffing at Head Office.
Plus many more.
I believe I have truly developed the knowledge and experience to work in the role of NO. Having spent time being a H&S rep, a brigade rep and regional rep, now sitting on the national executive and vice chair to that committee, I have a broad base understanding of the many issues I’d be expected to deal with.
Winning significant campaigns, negotiating policies, duty systems and Ts&Cs, representing and investigating H&S matters, representing members up to Employment Tribunals, understanding fully our structures and how they entwine to have a functioning union, and being part of a region that has actively built up a diverse committee, working with some of the best reps.
We have seen the importance in recent years of resilience in the Head Office (HO) team and how we needed more of it, I believe that I would bring resilience and assist with future proofing the HO team.
My most important trait is the passion I have for our members. I work tirelessly, I ensure I am visible and I never rest in doing what I can for our officials and members.
This is why I believe you should vote for me, Adam Taylor, as the next FBU National Officer.
