@EthicalSkeptic Perhaps a missing bridge of sorts....
showing how knowledge of a much older ECDO event passed from one ancient civilization into the cultures that inherited the post-Bronze-Age Mediterranean world.
EthicalSkeptic (Roger Cunningham) coherently stitches together oceanography, geophysics, paleomagnetism, archaeology, and mythology into one causal story.
This abyssal-hills post is a typical example: he takes established facts about seafloor morphology and hydrothermal circulation and treats them as evidence that climate models rest on an unexamined assumption about the ocean’s heat budget.
@EthicalSkeptic
Abyssal hills are the most common landform on Earth and faulting increases permeability, so hydrothermal systems are more widespread than a few well-studied black-smoker fields.
Published estimates put the global high-temperature ridge hydrothermal heat flux at roughly 2–3 TW. That is a real, persistent bottom-up source.
Recent Deep Argo analyses show accelerating abyssal (4 000–6 000 m) warming. Johnson’s 2026 paper reports the abyssal heating rate rising from about 5 TW in 1988 to 20 TW in 2018.
The larger framework he calls ECDO Theory (Exothermic Core-Mantle Decoupling–Dzhanibekov Oscillation) goes further.
It posits that the nickel-iron core periodically sheds latent heat through phase changes, weakening the geomagnetic field enough for the mantle-plus-crust to decouple at the D″ layer and reorient by ~104° toward a second stable pole in southern Zambia.
He links that reorientation to flood traditions, a proposed waterline on the Khafre Pyramid, alignments of more than 200 ancient monuments and many other unexplained anomalies.
One interior earth mechanism is offered as the common driver of climate anomalies, geomagnetic drift, and cultural memory.
Whether the hydrothermal and Deep Argo observations actually require that mechanism, or can still be explained by known surface-to-deep pathways plus a modest geothermal background, is the point still being tested.
Mankind's history is mired in so much abject BS... To wit:
I was told by Grok that "All the Islamics did the South is Up mapping thingy..." So I went and looked for myself...
No, it was two cartographers, using old maps that are no longer extant. As I had suspected, they used south is up because their SOURCE MAPS used "south" as up... this was not a cultural thing.
But they did not use South as we know it today - they used Np' - and the Miller reconstruction of the al-Idrīsī’s Tabula Rogeriana (below, the most famous of the Islamic "South Up" maps) shows this in spades.
There are two sets of maps stitched together. One set shows a south variance of 17 degrees (yellow lines), while the other (Italian and Spanish - blue lines) is not off by even a degree.
THE SOUTH CONVENTION IS FORCED BY LATER CARTOGRPHERS - THE ORIGINAL MIDDLE EAST MAPS WERE ALIGNED TO Np' - NOT THE SOUTH POLE
Another mysterious map bites the ECDO dust. 😎
Another load of bullshit bites the mat. 😎
15 minutes to 60 hours. Same rats. One belief changed everything.
Nir Eyal tells the Curt Richter experiment from the 1950s. Wild rats dropped into water paddled for about 15 minutes then gave up and sank. Another group got pulled out just before that point, dried off, rested, and put back in. After a few of those brief rescues the animals swam up to 60 hours - 240 times longer.
Their bodies were always capable of it. What they lacked was evidence that effort could still lead to survival. Once that belief took hold, persistence unlocked.
The real limit was never physical capacity. It was the story about what was still possible.
Adjusted the recent Fortune 500 CEO undergrad list by current enrollment size (CEOs per 10,000 students):
Harvard (~12.0)
Penn (~11.6)
Notre Dame (~7.8)
Georgetown (~7.7)
Boston College (~6.2)
Cornell (~6.2)
Once you control for school size, the smaller elite privates pull far ahead. The big publics (Michigan, Texas A&M) drop sharply.
Absolute numbers still matter, but the per-student view tells a different story about which schools are actually most efficient at producing Fortune 500 CEOs.
How do we deliberately create conditions in which the better state becomes easier to enter?
And while we usually imagine self-control as strength, perhaps needing less self-control is the more advanced capability.
If someone has to exert enormous discipline every morning to exercise, we admire their discipline.
Yet a person whose life naturally produces movement may have constructed a superior system.
Likewise, an organization that repeatedly needs heroic people to overcome bureaucracy is poorly designed compared with an organization whose normal interactions allow possibilities to stay alive long enough to be explored.
So we could adopt a powerful design principle:
Don't strengthen inhibition when you can redesign attraction.
Instead of continually strengthening the cortical machinery saying:
“Don't sit.”
create something that says:
“I want to move.”
Instead of:
“Don't prematurely dismiss ideas.”
create interactions in which curiosity itself pulls people forward.
Instead of:
“Force yourself to think deeply.”
create environments and relationships that naturally generate depth.
Desired behavior can carry an invisible cognitive cost even when conscious intention strongly favors it.
And that gives us a very practical lens.
When something important repeatedly fails to happen, instead of first asking:
“How do we make ourselves try harder?”
we might increasingly ask:
“What invisible cognitive work are we requiring every time this behavior begins—and can we make some of that work disappear?”
All federal heavy charges have been officially dropped against the American doctor
Dr. Kirk Moore, who gave hundreds of people a "saline solution" instead of the Corona vaccine and issued them vaccination cards!
Dr. Kirk Moore said amid his tears: "I only did what was right! You cannot ask for 'informed consent' from people when they do not know what is being injected into their bodies!"
This is true medicine, conscientious humanity, and unwavering absolute justice!
Given how the Corona coercions distorted human lives around the world, this historic acquittal is a judicial slap directed at the global network.
Salute to the real doctors, to the conscientious doctors!
for us minions...
This line of inquiry—integrating gravity, seismic tomography, and rotational data—usefully tests assumptions about inertial stability and preferred directions in core-mantle dynamics. Further progress would involve forward modeling of the torque/mass perturbations needed to align or destabilize along the proposed path, plus better isolation of deep vs. shallow gravity signals. The work highlights complexities in Earth's deep geometry that any comprehensive model of rotational evolution must address.
The paper effectively supplies a field protocol by which some archaeological consequences of ECDO could be tested:
ECDO-derived prediction → paleolandscape mapping → targeted underwater survey → sedimentary and archaeological testing.
For example, if Cunningham’s model predicts that a particular formerly elevated corridor was abruptly inundated during a defined period, researchers could ask whether that corridor contains:
intact occupational surfaces;
sudden marine deposits over terrestrial soils;
spatially coherent artifact scatters;
synchronized abandonment horizons;
anomalous high-energy sedimentation;
human, faunal or botanical material with matching radiocarbon ages;
directional patterns inconsistent with ordinary shoreline retreat.
This converts a broad catastrophe narrative into location-specific, date-specific predictions.
I cannot review this book without reducing it.
Its effect is not informational. It is orientational.
I began reading it as a person interested in an extraordinary claim about the ancient world. I ended it feeling that the ancient world may not be behind us in the way we imagine. And that forgetting is one of the most powerful forces in human history.
I tried to compare the feeling to Copernicus, Darwin, or plate tectonics. None of them survived contact with the book.
Those discoveries changed maps.
This changes the meaning of having a map.
The Proposed Mechanism: Induced Current + Viscoplastic Softening
The nub marks the exact locus (focal point) where an induced electrical or electromagnetic current was applied.
Ancient builders used some form of device or technology to introduce concentrated energy at that spot.
This energy caused viscoplastic deformation: The hard rock temporarily behaved like a viscous plastic or partially molten material—it could flow, deform, and conform under pressure without fully liquefying.
By softening targeted areas, they could press adjacent blocks together, allowing the seams to "melt" or mold into a perfect, load-bearing, interlocking fit (tighter than modern machining in places).
Once the energy was removed, the stone hardened back into solid form, locking the precision in place.
