Joe Rogan is repeating the same story told by RFK Jr. and other anti-vaxxers when he talks about why the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was formed.
None of them ever talk about how these reasons were investigated and found to be false.
The culprit? An anti-vaccine "documentary" that sparked a wave of mass hysteria.
Where have we seen that pattern before?
Change starts with respect and a new brand. Family physicians are often called GPs or non-specialists. Medical students who “specialize”in family medicine are called family physicians. It’s time to recognize that family physicians are specialists too. @CFPC_e
On the list of "things that should be illegal in medicine but aren't," starting any sentence with "remember that patient you saw last week..." is definitely in the top 10.
Thanks to @DGlaucomflecken for hitting the nail on the head with this one.

ON Medchecks weekly cost $1.4M $75M yr, 1.5M people. Every unnecessary Medcheck is reviewed by a family doc & increases admin burden. Government must act immediately on unnecessary costs.Shoppers Drug Mart says it doesn't have medication review targets https://t.co/uWxnB9SGh0

For those keeping track that’s $220 for a nurse practioner to do a pap & give results compared to $37 visit +$15 pap + $0 results call = $52 for a family doctor from OHIP. You can’t find a family doctor because they are paid 400% below market value.
I promise there is no greater falsehood or disservice to the nobel profession of medicine than to promote, tout, brag, support or advertise that you or anyone else is a “top doctor”. A denigration, unseemly and unbecoming.
More than 62,000 northeastern Ontarians could be without a family doctor by 2026
Administrative burdens, lack of support, low compensation are leading to a doctor shortage, according to OCFP

The medical profession and repeated Ontario governments show utter contempt for family MDs and they have had enough. A must-read article to understand why comprehensive family medicine is doomed in Ontario. Reporting by @CBCQueensPark @OntariosDoctors

No. You are not.
You are keeping the Board of Directors of Shoppers Drug Mart happy.
The number of prescriptions does not readily translate into an enhanced quality of care.
I asked AI to generate a dead canary in a coal mine image but have the dead canary in the emergency department.
This was inspired by an @alandrummond2 quote.
This is such an important point. Overcrowded ERs are not caused by people showing up with minor complaints. These we can treat quickly and discharge. It's the complicated cases, say the young lethargic child who's stopped drinking, the elderly grandmother who's confused and can't walk... these cases take most of the day to sort out, possibly longer, and takes up beds and hospital/nursing resources.
It drives me crazy when politicians ask people not to come to the ER for 'minor complaints.' Firstly, most lay people don't have the knowledge to know what's minor and what isn't beyond the most obvious things.
Secondly, it was the politicians responsibility to build greater capacity and to mitigate the load on hospitals with good public health advice. They are sadly MIA on that front.
As a Fellow of the @Royal_College for 25 years and chair of one of its examination committees, I think the former Dean of Harvard Medical School is exactly right.
“After forty-five years of working in one emergency department or another in Ontario, I ask myself “Seriously, What the Fu$k”?”
