@blocht574 I think a benefit to older litterature is that it helps kids realize the crises and issues they face today - in many ways, are timeless to the human condition and not just something they are suffering individually
@blocht574 there are timeless themes across literature that can always connect in some way to the human spirit and current times... teachers can choose ways to highlight that, bring out students' abilities to connect with that in an engaging way
@flockofrobins I think it would work well... gives them a chance to connect with personal motivations... opportunities to learn away from the computer... and lets them connect with something they are truly interested in 👍
In Order For Students to Win BIG:
1. What do we need to focus on this week?
2. What does a small win by Friday look like?
3. What is our biggest priority?
4. Are we empowering learners or giving assignments? #edchat
@SuptEnfield yep - it breaks my heart that we won't be starting in person with the kids! Any way this decision happens comes with emotions and questions... but we will make it to the other side...
@markbarnes19 I believe these things require important conversations to be effective. While it can be done remotely, I also wonder if a sense of normalcy could make things easier for students during this time - not having to adjust to too many elements at once?
7th grade French students planted their seeds today! They researched and decided on control and experiment conditions for their French herbs. We will make notes on the growth in French and hopefully make French recipes using our future garden! @woodscharter@WoodsSperry
These kids did an amazing job! We surpassed our original goal & prepared 15 care packages for children with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). Thank you to the Lending Hands Club, @flockofrobins and @FerociousFight for helping to spread awareness and bring smiles to children!
3rd Annual World Language Gallery Walk! 5th grade students went on a virtual “trip around the world” to research cultures and learn phrases. Students prepared interactive activities for visitors to experience cultural aspects of French and Spanish speaking countries!
Lending Hands Club kids met during lunch today to make scarves and cards to send to @FerociousFight an organization that provides care packages to kids around the world battling CRPS.
The empathy, care & conversation today was amazing.
Thanks for your help, @flockofrobins
