@not_kavun Some people are definitely attempting to simply plug money by seeing what they can pull from online.
Tbh I think the difference is usually pretty clear.
Let's be clear for a moment here.
X is a big place and on here many many accounts dedicate themselves to doing amazing work for Ukraine.
This is still a social media platform though, this is still a space for people to talk about their personal lives. Whether or not that person also uses their account to talk about Ukraine or raise funds, does not detract from their right to talk about personal things.
When someone who has dedicated themselves to fundraising for Ukraine has health issues, and offers themselves for extra work, in order to cover health bills, that is not a grift.
It is someone simply asking for extra work and explaining why.
Every single person on this platform is entitled to talk about their own lives and seek work outside of raising funds for Ukraine.
Gatekeeping what people can and cannot talk about because you do something for Ukraine and therefore feel entitled to attack people for their post being personal and not about Ukraine, is needlessly petty and inappropriate.
@sashameetsrus You mean as someone living in russia and allowed by the state to use twitter (unlike everyone else in russia) i agree.
This message is kremlin approved.
@hottaspotta@ky_painter Just having a meltdown for the fuck of it and decided to have a go with someone who dedicates themselves to helping Ukraine.
Wild.
@ky_painter@Longtstanding Yeah, so this is incorrect on both accounts.
Its not a grift, it a personal appeal that is clearly spoken as not part of Ukraine.
Second, you just made that up about flights.
Do better.
It is not an analogue
Cuba held russian nukes.
Ukraine didn't even host NATO, never mind american nuclear weapons. Infact it gave up its nuclear weapons with thanks to the budapest memorandum, to which russia trampled on when they invaded.
Nice try though, maybe try this with someone daft enough to fall for such slop.
@ClarkeMicah 90s Ukraine becomes independent seeking closer European ties as is the will of the people.
This will remained unchanged.
Russia attempted to derail this process with Yanakovich, it failed, Ukrainians revolted. Russia invaded.
There categorically was no using of Ukraine.
You are yet to illustrate how russia was provoked?
Bare in mind the interent is a thing and we have videos of russian elites and putin stating
-ukraine no longer needs the donbas
-Ukraine hasn't lost land, this land is russian
-the existence of Ukraine is an affront to russia
-russia must destroy western hegemony and Ukraine is the start to this.
To what end did American provoke russia into invading Ukraine?
Ukrainian self determination? No, that belongs to Ukraine.
No mandate for Ukraine to join NATO? Hardly grounds for invading on the pretense of stopping a NATO ascension, that never existed in the first place?
The removal of Yanakovich? This was the direct will of Ukrainians.
NATO expansion?
Only 6% of russia bordered nato pre2022. The nations the sought to join NATO did so of their own choosing, not at the point of a gun. And they did so out of fear of what russia will do, a fear we know to be vindicated - Chechnya, Ukraine, transnitria, Georgia.
Just look at the dictorial subjugation of Belarus.
You call it provocation. Putin himself calls it the reclaiming of former USSR lands.
@chud67bbc45163 The mistakes of former governments to become dependent on russian gas is a price we are paying today.
It helps to look at the world like a rational human being, you'll understand way more
Let's acrually think about this.
Russia, right now is trying to destroy Americas allies and Europe.
And someone dressed their children up like this. The boy in a russian military uniform and cap with a USSR badge and a real russian unit patch on his arm.
The patch is passed Halloween cos play. The tank patch matters not to the child, it mattered for the adult that stuck it on him.
Why not a patriotic USA military uniform? Why not dress as someone who won American independence?
The decision to send a child for a photo op with the president, dressed as people who are committing genocide in Europe is nothing but political trolling.
America, you are being laughed at by your enemies.
Russia plainly was not provoked.
6% of russias border was in contact with nato prior to 2022.
They were not being surrounded.
There was no nato in Ukraine and no mandate for Ukraine to join nato.
Putin himself has said Ukraine has lost 0 land because that land belongs to russia, and right there we have the crux of the invasion.
