@IamCarrieagain@adamfare1996 I wouldn't per se put that on everyone who calls themself a christian. personally I think abuse within christians could be almost exclusively blamed on those who don't truely believe and only use and twist religion for their hatred, bigotry and abuse.
@janellabooks@adamfare1996 -
it is so obvious to me how neglecting/abusive/overbearing parenting can cause a kid to go down a wrong path. it's not the kid's fault when the parents suck at parenting.
parents are there to be a guide and not to mold their kid into what they want.
@janellabooks@adamfare1996 -
here we say "kids who aren't allowed to do anything grow into adults incapable to do anything"
in other words, give the kid enough freedom from a young age to make mistakes and learn from them and be there to help them learn.
-
@IamCarrieagain@adamfare1996 that's absolutely horrifying.
the kid didn't even do anything aside from probably being exhausted from the car ride. like small kids do.
and the fact that the poor kid was conditioned to agree to being abused for expressing his own emotions and will....
@janellabooks@adamfare1996 --
btw a great way to make a child become resentful and deliberately break rules or become similarly cruel or outright abusive later in life.
your solution is part of the problem
@janellabooks@adamfare1996 --
the best approach is to treat even young kids like you'd treat any other human being that did something wrong and didn't know better. tell them that it's wrong and WHY it is wrong.
smacking only trains a kid to fear you w/o understanding what they did wrong.

@adamfare1996 my mom slipped up once. accidentally.
tbf impulse control can be hard when you're an autiHDer and don't even know that/your sensory limitations/ways to handle stress overload.
despite that, one accidental hit was still enough to make me flinch sometimes when a hand is raised.
