Hey folks. If you support bakeries being able to refuse service to anyone (gays) then you also support Hiltons ability to do this. Pick your position, but own it both way. FTR, WTG @HiltonHotels !!!!
NO ROOM AT THE INN!
@HiltonHotels has launched a coordinated campaign in Minneapolis to REFUSE service to DHS law enforcement.
When officers attempted to book rooms using official government emails and rates, Hilton Hotels maliciously CANCELLED their reservations.
This is UNACCEPTABLE. Why is Hilton Hotels siding with murderers and rapists to deliberately undermine and impede DHS law enforcement from their mission to enforce our nation’s immigration laws?
@natehoodstp 100% agree. And as a business owner and frequent user of permitting agencies across the country, when asked about cities to avoid, I refer back to service and working experience I’ve had. This is spot on!
Yup, & making considerations that have viable alternatives or unique requirements, often times that’s the used as negotiating, in exchange for exempting parking restrictions, density bonuses are added with affordability requirements. When cities use the tools avail it works
@natehoodstp In cities that lack transportation infrastructure, walkable access to grocery and other, how is that responsible? Being concerned about the livability is part of the conversation.
@natehoodstp Disagree. You must also have transportation alternatives infrastructure available. And not all cities have that. TOD zoning when it’s available is great and I highly encourage and support that but unilaterally removing parking mins is not responsible or”simple”
@DrewRoachMN And you’re paying for it as taxpayers. Local units of government, county, state, & school districts are increasing levies for this unfunded mandate. Having to also account for extended leaves, requires us locally, to add headcount to provide essential svcs during long leaves
@zacharywefel Mine was indicted, held no committee assignments and couldn’t caucus, but still collected a paycheck while refusing to meet with constituents and then she resigned after the inevitable conviction. Disappointment doesn’t begin ti describe…..
@sdho Curious ? What about innocent until proven guilty ? What if I’m operating the vehicle? I get the desire. I applaud the intention; I champion the effort, but this violates some pretty core principals we should be standing for, no?? (I’m honestly curious)
Lemme help out here @FOX9 . No. The driver doesn’t get a warning or speeding ticket, the registered owner of that vehicle (assuming the tag matches the vehicle). So how does this system know it’s actually me driving the car ?
Traffic safety cameras are up at five separate locations across the city of Minneapolis and will start ticketing speeding drivers this week.
The first time a driver is caught going more than 10 mph above the speed limit, they will get a warning. After that, they'll get a $40 ticket or an $80 ticket if they are going more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit.
The cameras only catch license plate numbers, and no facial recognition technology is used.
@elliottengenMN This is one of the things the met council was formed to plain/solve for. When the comp plans instead took over in sustainability, recreation and other necessary but arguably less critical planning elements, were were screwed. Transportation is more $$ to undue/redo.
@jeremyrmiller I watched you in several ethics committee hearings, and appreciated your no nonsense & reasoned approach. Thank you for your service!
This is not a statistic I wish to challenge Illinois at. Poor judgement (in things that are illegal) shouldn’t be an acceptable element of serving your community. (I abstain from my poor judgement in many areas, just none that are illegal). (FTR, my fantasy team is 1 ex)
@MaplehoodUnited I’d offer that because Woodburys growth primarily came from the last 30 years, which planners had the benefit of hindsight and better urban planning tools and guides. Same argument for my hometown of No. St Paul. Redevelopment is hard and $$. Most of Woodbury was undeveloped
