Today we celebrate Bette Blackwell (1921-2018) who worked as a riveter making Spitfires in a Salisbury factory during WWII; location kept secret to avoid the bombers. She was so small she often worked inside the aircraft, 12 hours a day, six days a week, wielding heavy equipment.
