Went through the full transcript of the #ICP "Internet Computer for Nations" Space (Pakistan Digital Authority, UNDP, OpenChat, DFINITY). Here's what stood out.

Key takeaways:
• Pakistan's Cloud Engine has been live for about 6 months, hosted in Pakistani data centers
• A national complaint management platform is already running on it, built largely with Caffeine
• Plan is to roll that platform out across the whole government
• Chatty (sovereign messenger built by the OpenChat team) is in beta on iOS and Android, 102 versions so far
• Dr. Munir says he now uses Chatty instead of WhatsApp for most of his comms
• New architecture: up to 1M users per canister, 4 canisters per subnet, scale by adding subnets. Roughly 200 subnets for 200M users
• Planned integrations: PakID (national digital ID), instant payments, government super app
• Vision: government services move from apps to chat and AI agents, with Chatty as the main channel
• UNDP has a cooperation agreement with DFINITY, first UNDP Cloud Engine is installed and in testing
• Pakistan commits to open-sourcing its learnings so other countries can follow

What I'd be critical about:
• Zero numbers. No budget, no user count, no contract details
• It's a DFINITY-hosted Space, so nobody asked the hard questions
• An MoU is not a commercial contract. Looks more like a supported flagship project than a paying customer
• PakID and payments are NOT integrated yet (Matt confirmed this himself)
• Dr. Munir openly said ICP may not be the best fit for very high transaction volumes
• Pakistan is "WhatsApp territory". Cold start problem was mentioned several times by the government side itself
• The fuel subsidy example (1M people in 5 days) did NOT run on ICP. Separate platform, Chatty was only mentioned as a future option
• Regulatory sign-off for AI-built government apps is still pending
• UNDP side is still in testing. Their own stat: 98% of projects they support never get past pilot stage
• Country risk: a change in government can kill projects like this fast
• For internet-computer:native: a few nodes don't move the needle on cycle burn. This only matters if Chatty actually launches and gets real users

Trying to create a sustainable project that was launched without control has not been easy but I think it’s very achievable.

-“Events and “Tournaments” wallet is now displaying. Will add more $bittyicp and $ICP as we carry forward and look to host events and tournaments to drive up community numbers and spirit

-Burn wallet still there, but will have to add a total amount burned tally. As when I burn tokens from this wallet the balance shows 0

-Liquidity wallet is there and ready to start filling up. A pair created by the bank will be added. And viewable.

-there are still many things to work out but we are going to be rocking the #INTERNETCOMPUTER very soon.

-Values may seem very low in $USD value. But our TVL is as such and we will grow. Every project has to have a beginning. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I'm laying out why I hold this view, so whoever reads this thread can reach their own conclusion.

You've used "permissioned" several times now without once defining it, so let's actually look at internet-computer:native:

🔸Anyone can deploy, no approval needed
🔸Anyone can stake and vote
🔸Anyone can apply to run node, accepted by NNS vote (Node providers are elected and removable by that vote, not appointed )
🔸Anyone can write protocol code and propose it
(Passed proposals execute on every node automatically)

t’s funny how some people accept whatever narrative passes for “good decentralization,” as long as it comes from the right chain.

ETH’s own DAO fork had ~5% turnout, with 25% of the yes votes coming from a single address. The voting window was under 24 hours and wasn’t publicized, the foundation pushed it through as the client default anyway.

But since you have $ARB in your bio, let’s look at that one too: the DAO voted 76% against AIP-1, and the foundation had already sold the tokens before the vote even closed.🤣

That's the kind of thing that literally can't happen on internet-computer:native NNS DAO isn't just signaling, it's executing. You know, the "autonomous" part of DAO that other chains only use as a narrative.

Proposals have to pass the vote before the code change is executed by NNS DAO, there's no foundation/core team deciding after the fact.

I guess the top people in the field that @dfinity recruited weren't just cashing paychecks while reinventing the wheel, they actually thought through how a proper decentralized network should run.

p.s. this is fun, but I'm still waiting for an actual argument, not just "nah, it's permissioned, it broke the ethos" while completely ignoring how current blockchains actually run.

I don’t like bashing on other chains because integration is better than flame wars, and I wish all the best for NEAR, but they have done what almost all other chains have done, which is to focus on a use case and decentralize it.

That is by no means unreasonable. ICP takes a different route though, which is decentralized general compute. It’s for the application that binds together use cases implemented on any mix of chains and even web2 services. Other chains performing their use cases well is useful for an application built on ICP.

I could do hardly anything of what I do on ICP on any other chain. So a chain like NEAR or SOL being good at use cases like cross-chain transactions and mass payments is great, but doesn’t let me write decentralized applications on top, that’s where I need ICP.
