A tiny example of using reference for 'inspiration' but not ‘duplication’ The official mode of transportation designed for the Three Point Society is inspired by the Tucker SnoCat from the 1940’s.
I'm honoured to have this illustration recognized by the National Magazine Awards (@NMA_B2B) ! Thank you so much to @KimLarson3 and @ConsultingEngAB for the project.
Why do heroes always live in cottages and villains in castles or towers?
Here's how film makers use architecture to influence our emotions — and what architects can learn from Shrek...
@kielorji We have no plans to introduce AI image generation or other AI-based generative tools, as current data collection and usage practices common in AI engines aren't in-line with our values.
@KAyDA65663709@JookpubStock The position and direction of the head, rib cage, and pelvis. Do a quick search of “George Bridgman’s three moveable masses.”
A quick warm-up with my class. The first drawing is referenced directly from the photo (@JookpubStock), the second drawing is referenced from the first drawing with the goal of exaggerating the feeling of the pose. By referencing the drawing I am more focused on designing shapes.
@monolit01365430@JookpubStock Thank you! That’s exactly the method I was trying to describe. I find this to be a very helpful way to study the figure, all while working out my design brain.
@KAyDA65663709@JookpubStock Sure! Start by drawing the pose as you see it. Draw that pose once more beginning with an exaggerated line of action in a way that gives the pose some movement. Build around that using the “three moveable masses” and exaggerate the direction that those masses are facing.
Congrats, @sncarmichael and Alberta Innovators (@ConsultingEngAB) on your Best Illustration nomination for "Asset Management"! In Scott's words it "communicates the importance of maintaining...infrastructure and development projects." #NMAB2B23 https://t.co/llOb5X1ZOI
@RachelNotley I’d say this is a perfect time to bring up the many hundreds of millions of dollars the UCP has cut from post-secondary institutions over the past 4 years—forcing huge tuition hikes, chaotic job cuts, & a divestment in education quality. Terrible trade for 1/3rd of a skating rink

@victoriaying I’ve been using a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 at work. It’s in tablet mode 70% of the time for 1 on 1 demos with students (so they don’t have to look around my hand). I have a bad shoulder and it helps with the pain. I still swap to the screen to draw, but painting is fine without!
I like thinking about baseball jargon as way to understand illustration. So, the "5-tool" baseball player is the ideal. They can:
-Run
-Catch
-Throw
-Hit for power
-Hit for average
If you can excel at three of those you can make the major leagues ... same for illustration: 1/
