I get asked a lot "how do I make PBL more visible in my classroom?" Having a designated space for the learning is beyond helpful to students and visitors alike. This one below is all easily movable at any point. To find out more check out @PBLWorks https://t.co/tSznrpHYWn
@PaulSolarz Have to go, but wanted to say thank you so much for inspiring me to be a better teacher. We don't start until next week, but I am super excited!!!
@PaulSolarz I think we have made positive gains with choice, excitement, and reflection - but will still focus on them. This year, expertise, impact, and wonder are all areas I would like to explore further. Real-world projects will resonate with kids forever. #LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz I have done this with huge successes, but also some that were not so great. Students picked things that were hard to work on in class. Making sure the essential question is going to work is key. #LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz I plan to start small. Let them make the decision to go to the bathroom without asking by simply moving their popsicle stick to the washroom jar. Leading the end of the day and deciding on priorities, goals, etc. without my input will be another first step. #LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz Loved your idea in the book of getting students to envision you as upset and then work through how to respond to that. I also plan to put a real emphasis on the class as a family - maybe doing some trust activities. #LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz We plan to model behaviours and have kids role-play. Our camp experience allows for a lot of this. We also plan to use the Give Me 5 to get the students to make observations about positive collaboration that they see happening. #LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz A2 Definitely introducing the Conflict Resolution strategies & having the students model mini-lessons. We are also asking students to start journaling about big questions so they know they are driving the learning.#LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz We also talked about letting the students create a class creed that they could state together at the start of each day with a focus on being positive. #LearnLAP
@PaulSolarz As a Gr. 6 team, we plan to let the kids know our vision on the first day. We have created a schedule of how and when we will introduce each new strategy ex. roles in the first two days and letting kids come up with some; Give Me 5 when we go to camp(3rd week of school) #LearnLAP
