Super interesting new @medrxivpreprint from @sngoonew on how a very common lab measurement (complete blood count) relates to cardiovascular events using six cohorts and >23k subjects with 249,098 person-year follow-up.

* CBC variables have similar independent information beyond standard RFs as other commonly used labs

* CBC variables have similar or more added prognostic value compared to other labs like lipids, A1c, CRP

* Neutrophils & lymphocytes are related to MACE with standardized HR of ~2.1 and death with std HR of ~2.4

* RBC quantity is related to MACE with std HR of ~ 1.6 and death with std HR of ~1.86
