Across the United States, thousands of people with #COVID19 are being hospitalized each week and the number is steadily trending up — a sure sign that overall cases have also been on the rise.

So many have been sold on the idea that #COVID19 is not only a mild inconvenience, but also a short lived one.
However even after “mild” acute episodes, risk increases for everything from diabetes to dementia. And now this. 👇🏽
As COVID rates rise, new variants spread, and hospitals, schools, and workplaces are reinstating mask mandates, the CDC is preparing to weaken guidelines for infection control in healthcare settings (again). https://t.co/L4PZxH3SGM
Absolutely correct of @ashishkjha to flag that BA.2.86 may represent an increased transmission risk. People should follow the official US & international government guidelines to protect themselves against Long COVID:

BREAKING: The Walgreens COVID-19 index is back, and has new data for this week!
California and Nevada set a new ALL TIME RECORD HIGH for positivity rate!
CDC needs to urgently reform—@CDCgov's original #COVID test didn’t work. Experts have called it the “most consequential” of the agency’s pandemic missteps because it stymied efforts to contain #COVID19. 🧵

Triggers Are Your Teachers.
A Guide To Working Through Your Emotional Triggers:
Step 1: Identify Your Triggers: when you have a strong emotional reaction pause and notice it. Adrenaline will rush through your body, just feel it. Allow it.
Step 2: Have The Courage To Look: don't distract yourself or react to it. Learn from it. Journal about what you were thinking or feeling and, you will notice patterns (ex: I am emotionally reactive when I feel like I'm being ignored, or not seen)
Step 3: Self Soothe:
"I am safe"
"I can do difficult things"
"It's ok for me to make mistakes"
Soothing ourselves through a compassionate inner narrative allows the emotional response to pass.
Step 4: Set Boundaries: let's say a trigger for you is feeling not good enough from growing up in a critical home. A friend jokingly calls you an idiot.
Set a boundary: "I know you're joking, and I just don't like being called an idiot even in a joking way.
The more you practice, the more in control you'll feel when triggered.
You'll develop self trust and confidence.

XBB sublineages incl XBB.1.5, XBB.1.16, XBB.1.9 are dominant worldwide. Surveillance is so so impt.
