“We can expect that we can actually halve the number of cancers missed in breast screening.” Peter Kecskemethy of @KheironMedical explains how AI radiography is being rolled out in breast-screening clinics, on “Babbage” https://t.co/tNx0eoCPvv 🎧
This article neatly sums up all the work we have been doing and what we have achieved with the NHS so far. Thank you to all of our clinical leads, patient representatives, national bodies and funders in the AI in Health and Social Care Award. #NHS#breastcancer#AI#workforce
https://t.co/I3hXXNxrbI The latest interview in my AI in the NHS series is about the AI tool which can diagnose breast cancer better than a radiologist - and how after many pilots the company behind it hopes the NHS will give it the green light for widespread adoption
The news that Mia® increased the breast cancer detection rate by 12% @NHSGrampian@aberdeenuni has been the subject of a Scottish Parliamentary motion of congratulations. We are grateful for this recognition, which was presented by @KevinStewartSNP and supported by 20+ MSPs.
@jameswise Agree that @KheironMedical / Mia is amazing (and proud that they’re a @join_ef company) - but what we need far more than a summit is an end to regressive and anti-tech screening rules that make it hard for the NHS to procure tech like this at scale. Huge shame.
Apart from being brilliant news in its own right, it’s innovations like this that can drive huge improvements in productivity in our public services - why we announced £3.4 billion of funding at the budget specifically for the NHS to invest in tech.
One of the many highlights of our work is getting to meet the amazing clinicians delivering breast screening services and trialling our Mia AI technology. It was lovely to meet the team from Northampton NHS Trust. @emradNHS
Reducing inequalities in healthcare is at the core of our AI model development. Kheiron's latest @Nature paper demonstrates that our deep learning-based breast density prediction generalises across imaging techniques and race. @katiecouric.

Kheiron has completed another large-scale study with its Mia AI tool reviewing over 200K mammograms from women across different ethnicities and geographic regions in the UK. We have the evidence to show that Mia generalises and doesn't introduce bias in any ethnic subgroup.
"It's a life saver, a life changer." For the very first time, hear directly from a patient whose cancer was picked up earlier because of Mia®. Follow Barbara's journey in this moving video by the @Guardian and @Microsoft.

More progress from @KheironMedical with the world’s best breast cancer detection AI, in production supporting radiologists in the UK’s NHS health system in partnership with @Microsoft@Azure.

Attending the AI Clinical Trials & Evaluations Conference in Birmingham today with @JPWNash - Thanks for hosting us @Denniston_Ophth and @DrXiaoLiu
Based on prospective results published in @Nature@nytimes, we project that our AI Mia® can help save 2,000 UK women's lives every year by finding their cancers earlier. That's a material contribution to the @CRUK_Policy's target of preventing 20,000 cancer deaths each year.
In a phased prospective rollout, implementation of #AI acting as an extra reader for mammography screening improved real-world early #BreastCancer detection compared to standard double reading involving two independent radiologists. https://t.co/sWQAVvOK4U
📢 Incredible news from 🇬🇧 @KheironMedical in @Nature: #AI assisted additional reading resulted in 13% increase in #breastcancer detection. 30 additional cancers were found; 83% of these were invasive & would have been missed without AI (1/3)

To all those asking when #AI will be ready to impact healthcare, the answer is NOW. We have conclusive evidence that Mia® can increase the early detection of breast cancer by up to 13%, as published in Nature Med. This is not a promise, it is a fact. See thread from @UKPriyaGuha.
We are very proud to announce the biggest achievement in the Kheiron journey so far; we have conclusive scientific evidence that we are helping save lives by detecting breast cancer earlier, as just published in Nature Medicine.
A thought provoking morning session at the BIR Annual Congress 2023. Thank you to @DrAmritaKumar and Dr Gerald Lip for facilitating such a good event. #BIRAC23
Meet Maura, another one of our brilliant PPI board members. The board are instrumental in shaping the way we implement AI & continue to be source of inspiration & motivation for our team
As both a former nurse and patient, Maura has seen breast cancer from both sides
