It also forces people opposed to science to understand that they are still the outlier. People who are anti-vax, who think that covid is a hoax, are dangerous to our society's general health. They should know that society is against their idiotic ideas.
Continuing to wear a mask after being vaccinated is the kind thing. It visually reassures people who have not been able to get the vaccine, who are having difficulty getting vaccinated because they're undocumented, and who are more paranoid about transmission.
Many people developed degrees of germaphobia and agoraphobia during 2020. There is actual trauma identified by experts from having to isolate from others for so long. A mask reassures them that they're not the only one taking things seriously.
Police are more urgently guarding against protests of their violent behavior—in part, by perpetrating more of it on demonstrators—rather than working to end that violent behavior in the first place. This is why we need to be talking about why we need or even want police at all.
