Well deserved @vicpdcanada Civic Service Awards given to 3 @vichighsd61 students who intervened & saved an ex-student who was overdosing in a bathroom stall (Dec 2019). Vic High staff came to the rescue with Naloxone. Team effort worthy of praise & recognition. @sd61schools
The Vic High seismic project is advancing with site preparation, demolition and asbestos abatement. Crews are setting aside building materials to preserve for future use. Check out the items being catalogued in the gymnasium to be repurposed in the upgraded school. #sd61learn

Was asked again if 'White' people can write stories with Indigenous characters. I said yes. Many of my stories include non-Native people. In Canada, we all go in and out of each other's life. That's real. But-pay attention- I do not write from their perspective. Big difference

I reread this speech by Douglass after replacing slavery with racism, anti-slavery with antiracism, slaveholder with racist, and slave with Black person.
The speech came alive and spoke to what we should be feeling today. It gave me chills in its enduring power.
