Introducing SOAR, a research lab @DrexelCCI whose focus is on improving software engineers’ tools and environments through empirical data analysis, natural language processing and machine learning. Please reach out if you are interested in collaboration or in joining the team!
Very excited to be in sunny Lisbon @ICSEconf. Looking forward to presenting papers and interacting with colleagues throughout the week!

Our paper "Exploring ChatGPT for Toxicity Detection in GitHub" has been accepted at @ICSEconf NIER.
We explored various prompts, including justifications for model outputs. We integrated ChatGPT into Slack to design a bot that is capable of generating non-toxic alternatives.
Emotions play a significant role in teamwork and collaborative activities like software development. Our paper @FSEconf explores the broad spectrum of emotions expressed in developer chats. 🧵

Toxic language can harm open-source collaboration, especially for underrepresented contributors. Our study examines toxic behavior in open-source using Moral Foundations Theory. 🧵

Good news from @FSEconf! Two papers got accepted to the Ideas, Vision and Reflections track🎉.
1. "Exploring Moral Principles Exhibited in OSS: A Case Study on GitHub Heated Issues" with my Ph.D. student Ramtin and @shadi_rezapour
AND...
In case you missed it, here is the recorded version of my talk at Never work in theory (NWiT' 23).
This work is on trust in software teams, recently published at @ICSEconf NIER.

We investigated various dimensions of trust exhibited on GitHub pull requests. Our findings provide preliminary insights into cues that might be helpful to automatically assess team dynamics and establish interpersonal trust in OSS teams.

Our paper "Interpersonal trust in OSS: Exploring dimensions of trust in GitHub pull requests" with @amirali_sajadi@kostata got accepted to the @ICSEconf NIER track 🎉. Very proud of my Ph.D. student Amirali for his first publication!
Preprint to follow.
I am creating a list of books to read/buy for professional development, including productivity, writing, and technical books (Software Engineering, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing). What are your recommendations?

SOAR lab welcomes our first Ph.D. student @amirali_sajadi to the team! Amirali's research interests are in software engineering (SE), and ML applications to SE.
Understanding the quality of the information in the mining source is essential for building effective data-driven software tools. I will be presenting our @acm_tosem paper "Automatically Identifying the Quality of Developer Chats for Post Hoc Use" as a J1 at @ASE_conf 2022.
Our paper "Data Augmentation for Improving Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering Communication" by Imran, Yashashvi, myself, and @kostata is accepted at @ASE_conf. Preprint to come soon! 🧵⬇️
