Unfortunately, I will not be at the ASA meetings to accept it. Instead, I will be respecting the @Soc4Pal boycott. The association's leadership has stifled democracy within the organization by suppressing member's voices on the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
@S4P rejects @ASAnews leadership's authoritarian decision to bypass its own procedures & membership engagement re: our BDS resolution.
If the resolution is not considered via existing procedures we will BOYCOTT the ASA 2026 meeting.

Thank you everyone for your efforts to both restore democractic processes with the @ASAnews and for an Academic Boycott of Israeli Institutions.
Free Palestine! 🇵🇸
Many of you have reached out with how you can contribute to the pressure campaign to get the 2026 Resolution for the Boycott of Israeli Academic Institutions on the ASA ballot.
✨Here are three things that you can do today...
3. With hopes that the member resolution is on the ballot, renew your ASA membership by April 1st to vote on the proposed resolution. Spread the word! https://t.co/o9qUWB7e5Q
We have an expanded FAQ section on the S4P website for those seeking to learn about ASA procedures, the proposed resolution, and what an academic boycott of Israeli institions would mean. Take a look...

Or does an academic boycott violate academic freedom?
No. The BDS movement has upheld the universal right to academic freedom, as provided in the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights.
When the conditions are not on your side you turn your behind to truth and lie to world by putting sociology in for disrupting status quo. What a shame @ASAnews
Just one of the insane parts of the responses to @Soc4Pal: ASA says policy statements are simply divisive posturing and should therefore be avoided, while simultaneously ruling out of court any meaningful demands (i.e., boycott & divest)—leaving posturing as the only thing left.
For more on the resolution, and our demands, head to our website at https://t.co/u4BszCOMcg. There you will find information about the proposed resolution for the boycott, divestment, and sanction of Israel, our full response, FAQs about this boycott, and the BDS resolution.
