The U.S. and the Holocaust - A new documentary by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein and why pretzel sticks matter.
It was the early 60s and I'm a kid from a working class neighborhood just outside of Boston. There was the Polish family across the street heading of to
@MidwestGolfJake Our 9 hole men’s league is on Thursday. Race to the course after work and can’t warm up for 5 minutes because the driving range is being used by kids. A simple solution, kids can have the entire range when the shotgun starts but let’s not offend anyone with logic.
@YipStrickler@USGA If you play in comps then keep two scores. With your gang playing a friendly on the weekend, play by the rules you all agree on. Breakfast balls, move from divots, roots, etc. and use that score for your game. When you post your GHIN score add the penalty strokes. Simple.
@CraigBeam1@hatless_rory Sounds like Cotton Ranch. I lived in the area, played there a few times. My understanding is that originally they didn't have a the proper permit for what we called the tram. Walking up the cart path to get to those holes atop the mesa was not fun. Hope you enjoyed the area!
@yourgolftravel Practice chipping and putting w/o interfering with the golfers behind you. Hit two out of the fairway, have an audio book on your phone to kill time while you're waiting. Do Not climb up on the group in front of you. They are there to enjoy their game, you're not their concern.
@TContangel22044@clippxp You understand that there's millions of women on the planet that can kick your ass without breaking a sweat, right? Rule #1, don't hit . Rule #2, if you hit you'll get hit back. Rule #3, if you hang with people who hit you will either be obliged to join in or not. Choose wisely.
@TheSeventhSwell@andymke@ClownWorld When I first started out I would get a mineral permit from the National Park Service. 15 dollars and I could pick as much rock in a day as I wanted in a National Forest in Colorado. It's a fair deal. A lot of work but fair.
@elkelk Label and sell the overhead space. Passenger purchases it when they buy their ticket. Solves a lot of problems but only if the carry on luggage & packages are dealt with at ticket counter and then boarding gate. The airlines have become buses that fly and we get what we pay for.
@ryancavengolf My first time with a caddie I was lucky enough to get the Hall of Famer Willie McRae at Pinehurst #2. It's been all downhill since 😊 Good fortune at Ballybunion, Dooks, and LaCosta. Worst ever was at the Straits, total bummer. Good weather, great course, an idiot for a caddie.
@Top100Rick This homeowner has the right attitude, no doubt. On the other end of the spectrum is the golfer who has no control over his driver and doesn't care if he hits a house. Keep in mind, a great % of courses wouldn't exist if not for the real estate. Know your game, act accordingly.
@Top100Rick Best way to read a putt is from the low side. If I have a longer putt from above the hole I will use a poker chip to mark it, they're easier to see. I keep a flat marker in my pocket as well and use it most of the time including when the poker chip is on someone's line.
@bigmikestrantz A few years back caddied for my son at a qualifier. A young guy in the group was playing really well & in the hunt.
A few holes into the back nine he says aloud "my driver is on fire today"! Proceeds to hit three OB on a par 5 before pulling out an iron. Lesson learned I hope 😊
@sSolo_Dolo@aau19998745@walker_winner@thwacknicklaus Ability matters. My mid 70 score is faster than another's mid 90. Habits matter. Where I leave my bag & wedges, my pre-shot, etc. Low hcp w/ good habits in a cart, you're correct, yet when I walk I'm always faster than the guys in the carts.
@BryanTweed16 Never had any bad trips, always had a good group with me. Only real negative was an ass of a caddie at Whistling Straits. Didn't screw up the trip for my son and I but it was the only time I've had to tell a caddie to STFU.
@BryanTweed16 My son and I, Erin Hills & then all 4 courses at Kohler. What made it special is he had just received his drivers license, a road trip from SC to Wisconsin. Great conversation on the road made up for getting my butt kicked 4 out of 5 rounds. Cubs game at Wrigley on the way back!
@Top100Rick On a busy course with the group in back of me waiting I'll lay up with a 7i and practice making a bird with my wedge. Not hitting into the group in front, letting group on the tee hit. Busy days are a day to practice, both golf and consideration to others.
