In June 1940 Elbert Williams, NAACP Secretary was abducted from his home and lynched after he and other NAACP members held a voter's rights drive.
Brownsville, Tennessee was over 70% Black in 1940. The Black people wanted their voices to count, however, any attempt to cast a ballot resulted in brutality and death.
They’ve always tried to keep us from the ballot box, stay the course. Your vote is your superpower. #DemsUnited
A London hotel refused to let a West Indian cricketer stay in 1943 because American officers were staying there and would object.
The manager said: "We will not have niggers in this hotel." He sued them. He won. Twenty-six years later he was made a Lord.
Learie Constantine. He was the most famous cricketer in the West Indies and was in Britain working for the Ministry of Labour, looking after West Indian workers who had come to work in the war factories.
He booked four nights at the Imperial Hotel in Russell Square with his wife and daughter. On arrival they were told they could stay one night only, because of the Americans.
Most people would have gone elsewhere. He had the presence of mind to get witnesses — he had brought a colleague with him — and he sued for breach of contract.
In 1944 the High Court found for him. It is one of the earliest successful legal actions against racial discrimination in Britain and it was cited for decades afterwards.
He then became a barrister, Trinidad's High Commissioner in London, and in 1969 Baron Constantine of Maraval and Nelson — the first Black peer in the House of Lords.
He also worked on what became the Race Relations Act.
A hotel manager said a sentence in a lobby in 1943, with witnesses, and the man he said it to went on to help write the law that made it illegal.
Markwayne Mullin today on Face the Nation
"I think people need to understand, if you attack America, we will come after you and we will make sure that the punishment fits the crime."
Unless you attack the US Capitol on behalf of Donald Trump.
This you, Markwayne?
“Homosexuality is un-African.” No, colonial Christianity is. We had queer ancestors, gender-diverse languages, and love before your white Jesus showed up.
“Ask anyone else who knows him, and is willing to be honest with you, DJT’s true nature is of a violent, sadistic felon. He was known in the Russian mob-run brothels of Trump Tower as an especially rough customer.
The same was true in Epstein’s East 71st Street townhouse where the sex-trafficked girls that Trump attacked for his own deviant pleasure would request to not be victimized by him again after their encounters.
There is no part of me that doesn’t believe Vanky and Melania are well aware of this, as are Don Jr. & Eric. As a matter of fact, everyone in his orbit knows how criminal, addicted and deviant POTUS is and has always been.
They don’t care because there is too much money to be made and they are having too much fun. It was reported this week that the ‘Millers’ are throwing lavish parties in their tax payer-funded housing on a military base in DC where they bring in donkey rides, petting zoos and mechanical bulls, along with catering trucks, to entertain and celebrate their fellow co-conspirators and their ever-expanding broods.” https://t.co/x6f71QCO1W

Why did the Navy Sailors on the U.S.S Abraham Lincoln have to come home to San Diego to a barracks with no air conditioning after 321 days at sea. The Military budget for 2026 was $892.6 billion dollars and they can’t pay to get the air working for these sailors.
She picked cotton at Melrose Plantation for fifty years and never learned to read. In her fifties she found some paint a visitor had left behind and started painting on a window shade.
She painted five thousand pictures. They hang in museums now.
When the museum nearby held her first exhibition, she was only allowed in after hours, through a side entrance.
Clementine Hunter was born on a Louisiana plantation in the 1880s to a family that had been enslaved on that land.
She worked in the fields and then in the big house at Melrose. In about 1939 she took the leftover paint and used it.
She painted what she had seen: picking, washing, weddings, baptisms in the river, funerals, a zinnia, people dancing on a Saturday night, and the same plantation buildings over and over from memory.
She painted on whatever was to hand — shades, bottles, boards, snuff boxes, cardboard — because canvas cost money.
She sold them for twenty-five cents. People bought them off her porch.
By the 1950s collectors and critics had found her. The Delgado Museum in New Orleans — now the New Orleans Museum of Art — gave her a solo exhibition in 1955.
She was not permitted to attend during public hours. A friend arranged for her to be let in privately, after closing.
She kept painting into her nineties and died in 1988 at over a hundred. Her work sells now for tens of thousands.
Clementine Hunter’s story is a reminder of what gets lost when ordinary Black lives are treated as unworthy of being recorded.
This book is for those stories—the lives, injustices, and histories that deserve to be remembered https://t.co/V6OJtazidd

🚨🇺🇸 MTG FIRES BACK at Trump after receiving an email from the president...
She accuses him of betraying his campaign promises, protecting people connected to Epstein, and abandoning his “America First” agenda.
“YOU are the snake that you warned us all about.
You never cared about putting Americans first or making America great again.
You are the deep state, the Epstein class, and America last.
And my mistake was supporting you in the first place.”
