I had the privilege of participating in the public hearing organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation at the National Assembly, where I presented the position of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) on the proposed amendments to key aviation legislation (HB 2779 and HB 2780).
As Managing Director/CEO of NAMA, I reiterated the indispensable role our agency plays in ensuring the safety of aircraft take-offs, landings, and air navigation across Nigeria. I emphasized that sustaining world-class air navigation services requires continuous investment in modern technology, critical infrastructure, and the training and development of our highly skilled personnel.
I also stressed the need for improved funding mechanisms, including the upward review of statutory charges and the implementation of an automated remittance system to promote greater efficiency, accountability, and transparency within the aviation sector.
Furthermore, I underscored the importance of staff welfare and capacity building, noting that a motivated and well-equipped workforce remains the foundation of safe, reliable, and efficient airspace management.
I commend the House Committee on Aviation and the National Assembly for initiating these timely legislative reforms. I am confident that the proposed amendments will strengthen our aviation sector, enhance operational efficiency, and further reinforce Nigeria's commitment to safer skies for all.
Together, we will continue to build a safer, stronger, and more resilient aviation industry for our nation.
