🚨 BREAKING 🚨
Last year, our colleague, friend and union representative Ruth Hannan was fired from the RSA due to trade union activity.
A few weeks ago, the courts found the RSA to be guilty of breaking employment law by dismissing her.

Respect and solidarity. As Ruth says - this is about more than one individual, it's about helping "other workers feel safer in their fight to have stronger rights".
Since March 2022, 86 skilled staff have left the RSA due to pay & toxic environment. We joined RSA believing we would help shape radical change but the reality is so different.
Watch these brave RSA leavers share their stories
Support us in our upcoming strike on 10 & 18 Oct!
While the numbers are stark, I'm thinking about the people who make up those figures. And how they will have been affected by this. Appreciating and valuing my former colleagues in the hope their workplace does the same. Solidarity with @RsaUnion.
📢 HUGE NEWS! 📢
Staff at the RSA have voted OVERWHELMINGLY for the first strike action in the organisation’s history.
With a 79% turnout and a 93% vote in favour, we'll be on strike on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st of September.

BREAKING:
RSA staff are balloting to strike!
After five meetings over our pay claim, which would cost less than 3% of the org’s £9m unrestricted reserves, management have refused to move from their initial offer.

Felt a mix of emotions reading the latest update but the one I'll share is deep respect for all those in @RsaUnion for acting on their values - and for knowing their value. Solidarity.
Hello again! We’re back, and wanted to update you on what we’ve been up to. We submitted our pay claim to mgmt in January, to recognise brilliant, hard-working RSA staff at a time of significant financial challenges. 🧵 1/7 https://t.co/3L5XuAv6Tc
Wouldn't you want to collaborate with the people you employ in an org committed to ideas for making the world better - for, you know, their ideas on how to make your workplace better? Solidarity to @RsaUnion who will be preparing ideas that are both hopeful and grounded.
1/7 You may have seen that we were due to begin negotiating with mgmt. Two days before our first meeting, ignoring 86% of us voting for a union and a say in our working lives, mgmt said they’re not interested in discussing anything beyond the legal minimum with us, and cancelled.
Recognition. This is testament to the creative, constructive, caring and - most importantly - collective organising of all those hard working folks in @RsaUnion. Solidarity as they move into next steps.
🥁It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for… the RSA ballot results are in! With a whopping 86% of the vote, and 85% turnout – the RSA have voted IN FAVOUR of recognition! You can read all about it in the latest from @TomWall and @theGuardian here….https://t.co/v9JyDgF9k9
Another big week for the RSA union! It’s nonstop over here.
First big thank you, to our amazing, anonymous support group, who’ve provided all the following for our work.
FIRST: These incredible brownies!! (1/9)
Love this explainer from @RsaUnion about the difference between staff representative groups and unions. You’ve guessed it - it’s all about solidarity and power.
So despite a petition, a survey, and a majority vote showing that @theRSAorg staff would like to unionise with @iwgb, management are refusing voluntary recognition and insist we'd be better off with a staff representative group🙄Here’s why we want union recognition instead: a 🧵
When you say you want to listen, you have to hear what is said to you. Staff are clearly and plainly saying that they want a union. I hope they are heard. Solidarity with @RsaUnion.
If I was still a staff member, I would not be able to send this. Staff voice deserves to be heard. Collective organising is about being 'pro' not 'anti'. Pro-better work, Pro-better world. Solidarity to @RsaUnion.
🚨Important update - please RT🚨Thank you! We were blown away by the support we received in the last few days. Sadly, one of our union colleagues involved in the Observer article on Sunday was prevented from returning to work on Monday as a consequence of their involvement. 1/6
Thinking about my former colleagues in @RsaUnion today. Hope they know how many folks have their backs and are standing next to them as they seek recognition. Solidarity.
We’re the RSA union, a majority collective of staff working with @IWGBunion towards recognition. You can find out more about why we’re seeking recognition in today’s @ObserverUK by @_tomwall and here’s a short🧵on how you can support us 1/6
