@youngvulgarian Tourism too! A surprising number of Americans flew to the UK for the Taylor Swift tour since the ticket price difference was large enough to cover the hotel and flights, for example. In central London especially I think trips like that boost up the restaurant numbers a fair bit.

@AnyaM8_ This tracks with the article in that those are common traps for women in particular, and many companies fail to provide the mentorship to address it. Being a good grad employee is different than being a good middle career employee but the shift isn’t obvious if no one tells you.

@tbtpeters @joncstone The local store manager may have to deal with greater throughput and more complicated deliveries (both negatives) while profits from increased sales (the positive) are felt elsewhere, higher up. Not a reason not to do it, by any means, but it’s a bit of a raw deal for them.

@edwardlamb The London Cycling Campaign did an excellent report with recommendations quite recently, I’d say do some of that! I did participate in the survey and agree with the findings. There are “hotspots” and they should be tackled first.

@youngvulgarian @LaurenMaeve Totally agreed… The Met used to often stop and fine cyclists for running reds, or without lights at night, and I haven’t seen either for years now! Doesn’t help that a lot of the new cycleway light cycles are green for bikes for 10 seconds between several minutes’ waits.

@youngvulgarian Lime does make you do a reaction test if you try to hire one past about 9pm at night (based on my personal experience anyway). But yeah, I wish there was a bit more of an expectation that you’d get in trouble for cycling inconsiderately!
