What Israel is doing in Lebanon fits into a much larger regional pattern where sectarian fracture is used as a political weapon.

The destruction of predominantly Shia areas in southern Lebanon is framed as “security.” But increasingly, entire communities are treated as inherently suspect through association alone.

That logic has haunted the region for years. Divide Sunni from Shia. Arab from Arab. Keep societies fragmented enough that occupation, militarization, and endless war become easier to sustain.

And it does not stop at Lebanon’s border. Across parts of the Gulf, sectarian rhetoric is being cultivated to reshape how people view entire populations, playing into Israel’s dominion.

Meanwhile, Western media still treats this as isolated escalation instead of part of a much longer story of territorial expansion, displacement, and ethnic cleansing.

We are told there is a ceasefire while villages are flattened.
