Joint DSS-Military Team Foil Kidnap of WAEC Students in Southeast
*Recover high-calibre arms cache, ammunition
The Department of State Services (DSS) and troops of the Nigerian Army, on Wednesday foiled a major attempt by members of the outlawed Eastern Security Network (ESN) to kidnap scores of students writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in some Southeast states.
Security sources said the ESN terrorists targeted schools in Enugu, Anambra and Imo States.
Acting on credible intelligence from DSS said one of the sources, officers of the secret police and soldiers raided an armoury of the ESN in Agbani axis of Enugu State.
The raid, disclosed the source, led to the recovery of a cache of high-calibre arms, including eight AK-47 rifles, 12 AK-47 magazines, and 323 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Also recovered was one smoke grenade launcher, two teargas canisters, 10 NYSC trousers, eight NYSC T-shirts and four NYSC lanyards. The source disclosed that intelligence revealed that the ESN members were to have launched the attacks wearing the NYSC uniforms.
Intelligence revealed that members of the terrorist organization were to have attacked select schools in the Southeast region to create the impression that bandits have invaded the region, added the source. Several members of the organization were reportedly arrested.
Earlier on Tuesday, a team comprising DSS operatives and soldiers around the Garki area of Enugu, raided another ESN armoury.
A rocket launcher, two RPG (rocket propelled grenade) warheads, three RPG chargers, and three AK-47 rifles were among the arms recovered by the security team.
"Also recovered by the team were six AK-47 magazines, two handheld grenades, one teargas gun, a baton and two teargas canisters, 270 rounds of NATO 7.62x39mm ammunition, 478 rounds of 7.62X39mm special ammunition, a bandolier and a baton," the source added.
The recoveries came barely a week after DSS operatives arrested five suspected arms couriers linked to gunmen who abducted students and staff of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri Village, Niger State, on November 21, 2025.
The suspects, including two Nigeriens, were nabbed in coordinated operations across Kaduna, Niger and Kebbi states. Recovered from the men were 15 AK 103 rifles, 15 magazines and 1,434 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition.
The outlawed group has been responsible for series of kidnappings and attacks on security operatives in the state, declared the source.
The Tuesday raid on ESN armoury in Enugu State came shortly after a recent arrest by the DSS of several suspected members of the outlawed organization in the state.
The highly-placed security source disclosed that the DSS operatives and soldiers launched the raid
The NDC has a lot of issues but on one part I do understand Seriake Dickson.
They provided a platform for Peter Obi and Kwankwaso in May, 10 days to the deadline.
When Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed went to Arise TV, he revealed that the PRP couldn't give PO and Kwankwaso the number of structures they needed.
The people already inside the NDC are humans too. OBIdients must learn to share and sacrifice.
We got the President which is the most important thing.
If Peter Obi does not win, 2031 is over for anyone in the NDC. So they know how important 2027 is.
Be calm and be of good cheer.

This is why they’re all attacking him: Obi is down to earth.
Regardless of age, he freely associates and interacts with ordinary Nigerians.
“What’s happening in Nigeria is Jihad. The difference between what’s happening in Nigeria & what happened 1,400 years ago when the Musl!m Arab invaders came to Persia is that back then people didn’t have Camera but today they do. Tinubu’s Govt is working closely behind the scene with the Isl@mic Republic of Iran. You should ask the foreign minister why Nigerian school children were holding pictures of Ayatollah who’s a brutal dictator, murdering my people in Iran. People need to look at the linkages between Nigerian Government & the Isl@mic Republic of Iran.”

It has been 5 years since the Nigerian government “magically” arrested Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya and extradited him to Nigeria.
No one has been able to explain how the government was able to gather intelligence, track, and pick up Kanu in faraway Kenya but can't track and pick up bandits and kidnappers in Nigeria.
The Nigerian government knows what it is doing.✍️
GEJ - My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.
Tinubu - The insecurity is political insecurity by my enemies.
Two leaders, different ambitions.
Abacha was a victim of Yoruba propaganda media. He was one of the best leader Nigeria had. He wanted to create 6 geopolitical vice presidents to govern each geopolitical zone & one central ceremonial president. Abacha loots are not loots. It was money he saved in proxy account to protect the economy in case World powers decide to sanction his govt as a dictator. He was one the most detriblized Nigeria. They used media, turned people against him and kpai him.
Whether you like it or not, the mission is simple: stop the APC and ADC from jointly manipulating the next election.
