“climbing trees is fun,” she replies with ease, and she nudges her with her elbow. “what, afraid to lose?”
in actuality, it’s because see the view atop the trees. the feeling of being able to look down, see everything at such a height —
climbing trees? well... this can only end well, right?
"uh... yes? kind of. i don't really do a lot of climbing, but i trust myself enough to not fall. why...?" she asks, brow furrowed slightly.
"is there something special in the trees around here? or is this just for fun?" +
what can she say? curiosity kills the cat.
( and also, trusting people is a difficult task. especially to her, who really can’t help but think the worst of people. it’s how she balanced out her brother—the one who couldn’t help but trust everyone. a naive fool, he is. he was. )
sucrose patiently waits for her to finish whatever it was she was going to say, though she quickly realises that the other has no intention of continuing. a shame... she's rather curious.
"it's alright. i.. i get it." she doesn't, really, but she isn't sure what else to say. +
a light smile is pulled out of her as she’s bumped—she returns it with ease, finding herself relaxing. just a bit.
“that’s true. chaos follows me wherever i go.” a sigh escapes her then, but she turns to look up before sucrose can say a thing. “do you know how to climb trees?”
the pain was so sharp sometimes, as if there were a physical thing piercing through her, that often she drowned herself in her work.
“sorry for stealing your pillow, by the way.” she’s smiling slightly, looking at him through half lidded eyes. she does not sound sorry at all.
home was with aether. without them, she was forced to wander, stuck with that horrible, empty feeling of homesickness.
everything and everyone had reminded her of aether then, & she would be lying if she said it did not feel as if her heart felt like it was being torn to shreds.
