Security on beates, all in one place 🔒

People ask if an app built with AI can be safe. Fair question. Here's what's true today, and what I commit to by 31 Oct.

In place today:
1. Your private conversations, and anything you share only with your contacts, open only for the people meant to see them. The server checks every request, not just the app
2. Private photos and videos open only through links that expire (duet invites by 31 Oct)
3. Your contacts are matched on the server. Your phonebook is never shown to anyone
4. We don't add ad trackers, so we don't sell your data
5. Under 18s: a message from someone they don't follow is held back and never shown to them, and no one outside their contacts can send them a number or contact details
6. Report and block on every post and profile
7. Delete your account and it's erased at once, photos and videos within hours, backups gone in 7 days. Only what the law requires, like evidence in a safety report, waits until it may go. Many big apps take 30 to 90 days
8. A security review of the code, load tests on a copy of our servers, and hourly monitoring, under way now

Done by 31 Oct:
• Limits on how many messages, comments and follows one account can send, so nobody can flood the app
• Duet clips sent to one person move to expiring links too
• Extra protection on https://t.co/u4zmnu1jej against bots and attacks
• A page where security researchers can report problems to us
• Two-step sign-in on every account that runs beates

In the first month after launch:
• Two-step sign-in for you
• Download all your data

@zahidlateefx Many, for instance record your duet, select everyone and post, it goes to every beates users in the world, they record their half against yours and beates puts it together in the duet feed.

I can't write a line of code. I spent 60 days building a social app with AI. The biggest lesson: the code was the fast part. Testing every screen on two real phones every night, and saying no to what only worked on a laptop, was the real job. What's the hardest part for you?
