Mehdi Khanaki was executed in Iran at dawn today. A pro democracy activist in the Iranian Resistance, in January 2026 he participated in anti-regime protests. Arrested on 10 February 2026, Khanaki was a 26-year-old law graduate. Following his arrest, he was severely tortured. The regime’s systemic and endemic use of torture and the death penalty is designed to strike fear and to create a reign of terror. It has had the opposite effect. political prisoner Mehdi Khanki was arrested in Karaj, security forces seized handguns, ammunition, improvised grenades, explosive devices, shoulder-fired explosive tubes, detonators, and bomb-making materials. The judiciary also alleges forensic examinations showed the recovered firearms had been used during the January 2026 uprising—claims cited in justifying the execution of the 26-year-old political prisoner.
