Mono-culture farming devastates the rest of nature.
Farmlands continue to lose much of their wildlife, bees, birds, insects, amphibians. But each generation measures "normal" nature against what existed in their childhood; not what existed before.
So we don't mourn the Auroch, Quagga, Eastern Elk, or drained wetland. We never knew them. We each inherit a slightly emptier world & call it normal, a shifting baseline syndrome.
Humans are remarkably adaptive... dangerously so.
The patio trends and minimalist approach to gardening has destroyed nature.
Gardens are some of the last slithers of biodiversity in many areas, if we all did our bit imagine the legacy we could leave
Hearts appear throughout the natural world, in leaves, flowers, seed pods and unfolding fronds. A small gathering of botanical hearts for St. Valentine’s Day. #ValentinesDay
The German name for the primrose, Schlüsselblume, means “key flower,” said to be inspired by a Flemish legend. According to the tale, these flowers were placed upon the earth to “unlock” spring, ushering in a vibrant procession of blossoms and bright sunshine. #folklore#nature
