HERE COMES THE HEAT: Get ready for the hottest weather so far this summer by the weekend and next week with highs well into the 90s.
Hot weather in Alabama during the summer is just a way of life. Use you common sense and stay cool as best you can. I won’t insult your intelligence with “heat tips” like “go into an air conditioned room” or “stay out of the sun”… you don’t need some TV nitwit tell you that.
But, heat exhaustion and heat stroke are serious. Heat exhaustion is a condition whose symptoms may include heavy sweating and a rapid pulse, a result of your body overheating. It's one of three heat-related syndromes, with heat cramps being the mildest and heatstroke being the most severe.
Causes of heat exhaustion include exposure to high temperatures, particularly when combined with high humidity, and strenuous physical activity. Without prompt treatment, heat exhaustion can lead to heatstroke, a life-threatening condition.
If you have a supplies kit for tornado season, then you may be ready to handle a hurricane or its remnants.
Prepare BEFORE hurricane season begins. Avoid rushing through preparations by waiting until it’s too late.

Conditions will turn colder and breezy tonight as a cold front sweeps across the region. Temperatures will fall into the 30s overnight, and highs on Saturday will only reach the upper 40s to mid 50s. #alwx
The combination of hot temperatures and increased relative humidity will lead to heat indices in the 100-105° range. This will promote a moderate to major heat risk today through the middle of the week across the region. Practice heat safety for people and pet!
Practically nobody knew the man who wrote Dixieland Delight was in Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday. Ronnie Rogers attended his first Alabama football game to hear 100,000 strangers sing his most famous work. Experience that moment with him.
