The fake article about Iran stoning a woman to death is still online despite it's writer admitting that the entire story is fabricated. Guardian is not going to do any investigation.
In the scandal of the Open Letter, the @guardian should do an investigation - given the following facts that have now emerged.
1. Mumia Abu-Jamal did not give consent for his signature on this letter.
2. Several initial signatories, such as Robin DG Kelley, have now retracted their signatures saying that the letter that was published was not what was shown to them.
a. Why did the Guardian's editorial team not check to make sure that the signatures were accurate? They could have asked to see emails or - in the case of Mumia - letters to verify the signatures on such a consequential statement.
b. Why did the Guardian not verify with the signatories that what they were publishing was indeed what the signatories had read?
The @guardian is responsible for ensuring accuracy. It turns out that they let slip a poorly executed intelligence operation.
Norm Finkelstein discussing the alleged sexual violence committed on October 7 by Hamas: "I hope your viewers hear this. There is not one single frame of Hamas committing rape or sexual violence. Bear in mind, there's not only just an absence of any digital evidence which would take SEVEN months to go through. Of all the various technological paraphernalia; CCTV, traffic cameras, body cam, dash cam, GoPro. Not one of rape. Not one of sexual violence. Not one frame."

This right here was the UN peacekeepers pouring sewage into a river in Haiti which triggered a cholera outbreak in 2010 that killed thousands of people
After they bombed 100 Venezuelans to death, after they caused the equivalent of 3 Great Depressions by sanctions, after they kidnapped the president, the CIA finally admits that there is no conclusive evidence to prove that the Venezuelan government ever committed election fraud.
The Spectator just told its readers the evidence that Israel deliberately targeted children in Gaza "simply isn't there," and that the UN's 94-page report is "a doctor's guess."
Here is what is actually in the report, Jonathan Sacerdoti says is empty:
• Two independent forensic pathologists. CT scans. Forensic analysis in 15 of 17 cases.
• An audio ballistic analysis that identified the exact weapon and the firing distance.
• A 10-day-old baby was shot in the head while breastfeeding in his mother's tent in Nuseirat. Named. Dated. The bullet was analysed.
He calls this "unverified" with "nothing connecting the dots." The report cross-references every source and authenticates it with geolocation, metadata and forensic imaging.
This is not an opinion you're free to disagree with. These are false statements of fact about a public document. Under IPSO's Editors' Code, Clause 1 (Accuracy) applies to comment pieces too.
