Solidarity Network stands with human rights defenders, victims, and communities facing injustice.
Through collective direct-action, protection and support, we transform solidarity from a principle into a practical force for safety, resilience, and human dignity.
The Migration crisis faced by Zimbabweans, and other Africans in the Republic of South Africa must be condemned.
It poses humanitarian problems and violates international norms and laws on human rights and migrations.
South Africa, must reconsider its migration approach, to that which respects human dignity and rights.
@TheMirrorMsv@ishemukati The arrest of individuals for expressing their concerns raises important questions about freedom of expression and democratic accountability. Citizens should be able to voice their grievances without fear, while disagreements are addressed through dialogue and the rule of law.
The weight of defending human rights can be heavy. For many human rights defenders (HRDs), being the person others turn to in times of crisis means carrying stories of injustice, trauma, fear, and uncertainty every day. Whether assisting defenders facing legal challenges or standing alongside those pushed to the margins of society, the emotional toll can be immense.
Meet @AyiekoLucia , a woman human rights defender (WHRD) from Kenya whose work focuses on protecting and empowering fellow defenders. Day after day, she listens to difficult testimonies, witnesses the impact of violations, helps navigate complex situations, and serves as a source of strength during some of the most challenging moments in people's lives. While deeply meaningful, the work can also be emotionally demanding.
For Lucy, wellbeing in times of adversity begins with recognising that she, too, needs care. Rather than carrying every burden alone, she has learned the importance of talking through difficult experiences and creating space to process challenging emotions.
"Sometimes just talking about it helps," she says.
She has also found comfort in nature. On particularly difficult days, taking a walk outdoors allows her to slow down, clear her mind, and reconnect with herself amid the demands of her work. These moments of reflection help her regain perspective and restore the energy needed to continue her work.
Lucy's story is a reminder that behind every human rights defender is a person who also needs care, rest, and support. For her, wellbeing is not separate from human rights work, it is what makes it possible to keep doing it.

🚨🇿🇼 EXCL: Tafadzwa Nelton Matanhuse, 32, will spend a second night in detention and is set to return to Chiredzi Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Magistrate Mutamba expected to rule on his bail application.
Matanhuse was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly criticising President Emmerson Mnangagwa and businessman Wicknell Chivhayo over the suffering of Zimbabweans, a case raising serious freedom of expression concerns.
Represented by Advocate Mureri of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
More to follow.
🚨 UPDATE: Former Mbare Councillor Paul Gorekore remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court tomorrow (Thursday) for initial remand proceedings.
He was arrested on Tuesday for attending a peaceful meeting against Constitution Amendment Bill (No.3).
Represented by Nontokozo Dube-Tachiona (@ZLHRLawyers). Following closely.
We condemn the actions of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, who attempted to raid the offices of Tendai Biti, the former Finance Minister of Zimbabwe and the Convener of the Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF).
These actions intimidate those that speak out to defend the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
We stand in absolute solidarity with @BitiTendai and the @cdfzim team.
🚨🔵Yesterday, Tafadzwa Matanhuse was arbitrarily arrested and charged with inciting public violence by the Zimbabwe Republic Police. This came after he publicly condemned the demolition of shopping stalls at Chiredzi.
Freedom of expression is a fundamental civil right protected in the Constitution of Zimbabwe. We therefore, call for his immediate release. #FreeTafadzwa
The detention of CDF activist Paul Gorekore following a reported warrantless search of his home raises serious concerns about respect for constitutional rights in Zimbabwe.
Authorities should uphold protections for privacy, free expression, and political participation, and end the targeting of peaceful civic activism.
🚨Zimbabwean authorities should ensure the safety of those opposing Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3).
Death threats against Hon. Amos Chibaya and Sen. Vongayi Tome, and intimidation targeting Hon. Monica Mukwada, Masaka, and Cllr. Sophia, raise serious concerns about shrinking civic space and political intimidation. Dissent is not a crime. #Zimbabwe
Nearly a year after my arrest, detention at Chikurubi & countless court appearances, the High Court has quashed and set aside all charges against me and AMH. My deepest gratitude to everyone who stood with me, spoke out, prayed, advocated and refused to let me walk alone. Thanks
#Zimbabwe: We welcome the decision to quash charges laid against Faith Zaba, a journalist in Zimbabwe. @Faye_Zaba
Members of the fourth estate must never be treated as criminals in a truly democratic country.
Weaponizing Vulnerability in Times of War
Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, we stand in solidarity with survivors of conflict-related sexual violence and reaffirm that no child should ever be used as a weapon of war.
Sexual violence against children is one of the gravest violations of human rights in armed conflict. Across conflict zones, girls and boys are subjected to rape, sexual slavery, forced marriage, trafficking, and other forms of abuse designed to terrorize communities, destroy social bonds, and entrench power through fear.
The consequences are devastating and lifelong. Survivors often endure profound psychological trauma, physical injuries, social exclusion, and barriers to justice. Many cases remain undocumented due to stigma, fear, and the absence of safe reporting mechanisms.
At Solidarity Network, we recognize that protecting vulnerable communities requires collective action, survivor-centered support, and strong accountability mechanisms. We call on governments, regional bodies, civil society, and international institutions to strengthen prevention efforts, ensure access to justice, and provide comprehensive support services for survivors and their families.
Silence protects perpetrators. Solidarity protects communities.
We honor the courage of survivors, human rights defenders, caregivers, and advocates who continue to fight for dignity, justice, and lasting peace.
