@holyunholyfrost@ThePhysicsMemes@ajxro I cannot, because in my opinion, the front side of an object is whichever side is pointing at me and not one random side I picked for whatever reason, and I insist: in my opinion, and many other people's, both 3D illusions are pointed at me and both are spinning counterclockwise.

@holyunholyfrost@ThePhysicsMemes@ajxro Neither of these illusions is parallel or perpendicular to the floor; both are tilted. One is viewed from a high angle, and the other from a low angle. You’ve simply decided that both illusions must represent the same 3D object, so one side must be heads and the other tails.
@holyunholyfrost@ThePhysicsMemes@ajxro But there is no “north” or “south” on a ring spinning on its axis. You’re just assuming that one “side” is the front/north/heads and the other is the rear/south/tails for no good reason. You could just as easily have decided it was the other way around.

If this blue-and-yellow ring thingy, seen from a low angle, were a solid clock with its hands spinning clockwise, you wouldn’t be able to read the time from this view. This is very strange to me.
I mean, it’s pretty clear that people who see the object as moving clockwise are imagining its front side facing away from the viewer. But why would you do that?
@ThePhysicsMemes@ajxro When youʼre driving and your passenger says, “Turn left,” do you reply, “Left looking at the car from an aerial view, or left looking at the car from underneath?” Or do you just assume they mean left from their point of view, which should be the same as yours?

@ThePhysicsMemes@ajxro You can tell it’s arbitrary because you guys don’t seem to agree on which illusion is clockwise and which is counterclockwise, whereas the people who only see one direction all agree that it’s counterclockwise.
@ThePhysicsMemes@ajxro Of course. The people who see it as counterclockwise in both cases are using a viewer- or screen-centered frame of reference, while the people who see it as changing direction are using an arbitrary, object-centered frame of reference.
