عشق کے اسیر

بابا اشفاق احمد اور آپا بانو قدسیہ جب ایک دوسرے کی زوجیت میں بندھ گئے تب سے لیکر بابا کے انتقال یعنی جب تک دونوں حیات رہے ایک دوسرے کے سچے رفیق اور ساتھی رہے۔ وہ حقیقی معنوں میں ایک دوسرے کی ضرورت تھے۔
ایک قدامت پسند بلکہ قدامت پرست بابا نے اپنی زوجہ کو پوری آزادی دے رکھی تھی کہ وہ جس سے چاہے ملے، جیسا چاہے پہنے اور جو سمجھ آئے لکھے۔ ہمیشہ بانو قدسیہ صاحبہ کی حوصلہ افزائی کرتے رہے۔
ایک پڑھی لکھی، زمانے کے ساتھ قدم بقدم چلنے کی عزم رکھنے والی بانو قدسیہ بھی اشفاق احمد کی اسیر رہیں مگر وہ جانتی تھی کہ اس دیو قامت شخصیت والے بابا کو کیسے اپنا داس بنائے رکھنا ہے۔
مستنصر حسین تارڑ ایک دفعہ کا ذکر کرتے ہیں کہ ایک ادبی محفل کے اختتام پر جب لوگ اٹھ کر جانے لگے، میں اور بانو آپا باتیں کرتے آگے آگے چلتے ہوئے صدر دروازے تک پہنچ گئے۔ دہلیز پر پہنچ کر آپا رک گئی اور مڑ کر اشفاق صاحب کو دیکھنے لگی۔ میں نے بانو آپا سے کہا "آپا چلیں۔"
وہ بولیں کہ "خان صاحب مصروف ہیں۔ وہ پہلے نکلیں گے، پھر میں۔"
یہ سن کر میں نے کہا:
"آپا پلیز!!"
وہ دھیرے سے مسکرائیں اور شفقت سے بولیں۔
"مستنصر کبھی کوئی ڈبہ، انجن سے آگے نکلا ہے؟ پہلے وہ انجن جائے گا پھر یہ گاڑی اس کے پیچھے چلے گی۔"

2017ء کو بانو قدسیہ اشفاق بابا سے ہجر کے 12 سالوں بعد مٹھی تلے ملنے پہنچی تو اپنا مرقد اپنے داس کے پیروں میں بنوایا۔ قبر کی یہ جگہ اُن اسیرہ کی باقاعدہ وصیت تھی، آخری خواہش تھی جس کو انہوں نے اپنے سچے محبت کے اظہار پر خرچ کردیا حالانکہ اسیر کی دیکھنے والی آنکھیں بہت پہلے بند ہوچکی تھیں۔

Headline in the Sydney Daily Telegraph, 1948.

This passage stands out:

Jews saw their opportunity. Men of the army of Zion attacked Deir Yassin at 10 a.m. that day.

They easily overcame the opposition. They killed 20 Arab defenders, and entered the village, tossing grenades into houses.

They killed old men, women, and children with bayonets. For three hours the slaughter went on.

Babies were killed in front of their mothers. Mothers’ throats were slit. Some were beheaded.

A group of men and women—some of the women obviously pregnant—were lined up and shot. The bloodlusting Jewish soldiery desecrated the bodies of pregnant mothers with knives.

When they had murdered 264 villagers, the Jews called a halt. They rounded up four truckloads of survivors of all ages and both sexes, tossed the bodies of the dead into the village well, and drove off with the survivors.

The victorious Jews drove the survivors through Jewish areas as exhibits of victory while Jews spat upon them. The parade continued, with breaks, for two days.

CNN documented the funeral of four young Lebanese children buried together by their mother, the oldest is 13 and the youngest is only 6 years old, who were killed in an Israeli airstrike while playing together in their family home.
