BREAKING: Navotas cops found guilty in the killing of 17-year old Jemboy Baltazar.

In a decision, Navotas Regional Trial Court today, Feb. 27, ruled that 1 out of 6 cops involved in the killing was guilty of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide. The other four were only found guilty of illegal discharge of firearms, while one was acquitted.

"The lighter penalties on homicide and lesser offenses against police officers involved in the killing of Jemboy Baltazar show how the Philippine justice system perpetuates a climate of impunity, where people in authority who commit crimes do not fully answer for their wrongdoings," said Cristina Palabay from rights group KARAPATAN.

Amid the guilty verdict, KARAPATAN continues to call for justice for Jemboy Baltazar.
