@WalkingHymnal @CatholicSat I'm on the opinion that as much as Paul VI heralded the post-conciliar era (with all the chaos of the 70s) which was steadied by JP2, the Francis papacy brought to a close the post-conciliar era with the Leonine papacy being a repeat of the steadying of the Church as JP2 did.

In all seriousnees though, he was ordained a priest a year prior to the death of Pius XII and participated in his funeral cortege. Nearly 70 years later He presided at the funeral of Francis who was only a seminarian during Pius XII's death. It's mindboggling

@ClassicalTheis Coming from a Pope who never wore the mozetta even once to a Pope who wears the mozetta every other day is wild. Even this practice of wearing the mozetta for official receptions hasn't been seen since Paul VI.

@SweetLilacmcd @CatholicSat It's his official dress. The secular equivalent would be putting on a formal suit or a dress uniform. It's the traditional practice of the Popes to wear the choir dress in formal settings.

This morning in Castel Gandolfo, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV received in Audience Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.

During the cordial talks, which focused on the war in Ukraine, the Holy Father reiterated the need for the continuation of dialogue and expressed his urgent desire that the current diplomatic initiatives bring about a just and lasting peace.

In addition, the questions of prisoners of war and the need to assure the return of Ukrainian children to their families were also discussed.

@iktp_pl It took Pope Benedict three years to reinstate the white mozetta (which he first wore in 2008). Give it time, we'll going to have a long reigning Pope. The white stole is beautiful to see however.
