@simonk_133 Nah, one of the main criticisms from economists of SAGE has been that they if they'd included more experts like economists, they'd have relied less on lazy "common sense" ideas like "public debt is bad and to be avoided" as a motive against action.

@dsquareddigest Depends what you mean by "intrusive". I'd suggest that the evidence of July etc shows that the case rate growth is highly variable and therefore it wouldn't take much action (e.g. sick pay/ventilation/improved tracing) to get it to come down again.
And here is one reason why covid case numbers are still important in the era of high vaccination. Clinically vulnerable people who can't be vaccinated deserve the same freedoms as the rest of us.
