Watching the debate about “Israeli influence”. Here’s the summary.

🔴Opens with a member pointing out the very debate smacks of antisemitic conspiracy theory. Next speaker goes into detail, explaining why it’s not legitimate debate.

🔴 Third speaker agrees it is a “deeply uncomfortable” theme, where the only Jewish state gets racist stereotypes constantly thrown at it. Says it’s not criticism, which she rightly points out is incessant in any case.

🔴 Fourth speaker agrees the debate is antisemitic. Talks about Britain’s historic and contemporary role in that. Says if there is a secret lobby it’s not been very successful because of the constant scrutiny, even at the expense of domestic affairs

🔴 Fifth speaker told about how his Jewish wife appeared on a list for accepting a donation from a British Jew. Pointed out it’s commonplace

🔴 Ayoub Khan starts ranting about genocide and the evil of Israel. Says the debate is necessary. Says it’s “shrouded in secrecy”. Claims it’s about “influence”.

🔴 Dr Peter Prinsley highlights it’s an ancient conspiracy fantasies to undermine society. Lists the genuine threats to democracy and laments the lack of attention.

🔴 Richard Tice talks about Israeli entrepreneurs. His argument reminds me of the French parliamentarian in 1893(ish) who argued they shouldn’t expel the Jews because the Rothschilds were useful.

He is interrupted by Iqbal Mohamed who is fantasising about AI weapons being used to shoot the genitals of children in Gaza

🔴 Tahir Ali says the Israeli government are “guilty” of meddling in UK politics. “Privileges at the cost of British interests”.

🔴 Kim Johnson intervenes to bizarrely rant about “illegal settlements”. Tahir Ali says thankyou. “For once I can agree with the sentiments being put forward” but wants to keep the focus on “the lobby”

🔴 Iqbal Mohamed (AI shooting kids genitals comments) returns to says he’s not antisemitic. Talks about pro-Israel donations but refuses to give way. Eventually gives way and is asked to define what “pro Israeli” means.

Mohamed’s answer is bizarre: “donors that turn a blind eye to blatant violations of Israeli law, British law or international law”

Won’t give way again claiming there isn’t time, but knowing he is given extra time for interventions. Talks about Elbit, as if he’s a speaker for Palestine Action. Talks about lobbies being “beyond accountability”

🔴Shockat Adam also wants to talk about Elbit. Says “genocide” a lot. Says a redaction proves secrecy

🔴 A furious David Taylor says some of the contributions have been troubling. That their obsession of LFI who are not government funded is odd. Says he was also on the list.

Won’t give way for the “pro Gaza” MP unless it’s to apologise. Lists racist discourse by MPs over Israel

This was a 40th birthday gift, and a gift to both my boys who've never seen Messi play live.

We've had technical problems for weeks now trying to get the tickets from the platform. Viagogo support kept assuring us the ticket issue would resolve itself closer to the day. Its in 3.5 hours and still no access to the tickets. Support told us to call back in 2 hours.

They offered us a refund if it doesn't work. But that doesn't recoup the thousands we spent on flights and hotels. And it doesn't do anything for my two boys who will be absolutely shattered that they're not seeing the game... not seeing their Hero play in his likely final World Cup tournament.

Ive had 3 hours of sleep. My wife has been crying all night. The kids are bearing up, honestly better than we are. But this isnt fair and it isnt right. And Viagogo has turned what should he a dream trip for our family into a nightmare.
