@EggieWeggieVT Exactly. You can’t make everyone happy. At some point you have to protect your peace, surround yourself with people who treat others well, and choose relationships that also prioritize your own wellbeing. There’s nothing wrong with that.

I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I’m sorry you’ve had those experiences. I don’t think every VTuber or every part of the community is like that but I do think there are issues that need to be addressed. I just hope we can focus on creating healthier boundaries and safer spaces for everyone instead of assuming minors don’t belong in creative communities altogether. Thanks for sharing.

Like I said in another reply, I do think sexualization has become one of the dominant niches in VTubing. I literally saw a post today of someone worried their model’s booba physics weren’t good enough. There’s definitely a perception that sex appeal helps with visibility, support, and donations.

Personally, though, I don’t want to take that route. It doesn’t align with my values, and I think the space is becoming oversaturated with that kind of content. I actually think creators who focus on being genuinely entertaining and more family friendly will stand out more in the long run. That said no hate to anyone who chooses that path. It’s just not the kind of creator I want to be.

Can you guys please stop making the VTuber space feel like it’s exclusively 18+?

Some of us came into this community because we wanted to entertain people of all ages, not build our content around being sexualized or catering to an adult audience.

I understand internet safety is important, but saying “VTubing isn’t for minors” is a really discouraging mindset. Animation and anime have always included content made for younger audiences alongside content for adults. VTubing can be the same.

Literally. Nurses don’t get paid nearly as much as people think we do. I work 48 to 60 hours a week just to live comfortably and save money. The only reason I’ve been able to build savings is because I only have myself to rely on and I’m pretty frugal. What frustrates me even more is I’ve been a nurse for almost 4 years and new hires are coming in making damn near what I make. The pay progression in nursing is absolute dog shit.

@KittenTayVT The drama. Also the amount of racism, transphobia, and oversexualization. I love the art, character creation, and creativity behind VTubing, but sometimes the community feels more like idol culture than a content creation community.

I honestly think the funniest part of this entire Deme vs Chibi drama is watching people write doctoral dissertations, diagnose strangers with personality disorders, investigate VOD frame data, dig through years of relationship lore, and body shame people over a VTuber argument about fanart.

At some point y’all stopped discussing the original issue and started competing to see who could be the most terminally online.
