I agree,

if you're going to travel now, either go to a natural destination beautiful or unique for its nature or to a very rural area where you're forced to be steeped in the actual traditional national culture.

Otherwise every central city core has the same malls, stores, archetypes, same trendy interior design styles, etc, etc. Even the Great Firewall doesn't stop Chinese cities from basically aping the same trends.

Globohomoism won and made urban life everywhere functional and fine.

No point stepping in a plane to see it.
