semen retention is a reality glitch.
your brain produces a protein called brain derived neurotrophic factor. BDNF. it is literally fertilizer for neurons. it grows new neural connections, strengthens existing ones, and protects brain cells from dying.
and chronic ejaculation suppresses its production through a mechanism nobody in the retention community is discussing.
BDNF is produced in response to physical exercise, fasting, deep sleep, and sustained hormonal balance. it is suppressed by chronic stress, poor sleep, inflammation, and hormonal disruption. frequent ejaculation produces hormonal disruption (prolactin spike, testosterone crash, cortisol rebound) and impairs sleep quality (artificial prolactin sedation replacing natural sleep architecture). both of these suppress BDNF.
during retention the hormonal environment stabilizes. sleep architecture normalizes. the two primary suppressors of BDNF are removed. production increases. new neural connections form. existing connections strengthen. the brain literally rewires itself on a substrate of growth factor that depletion was preventing.
this is why men on long streaks describe "thinking differently." not just more clearly. differently. new connections between ideas that didn't exist before. creative insights arriving from directions they've never experienced. the ability to synthesize information across domains in ways their depleted brain couldn't manage. this isn't motivation. this is neuroplasticity. the brain is physically building new architecture because the growth factor that funds the construction is finally available.
the "superpowers" that the retention community describes and skeptics mock are the subjective experience of elevated BDNF producing accelerated neuroplasticity. the brain isn't doing something supernatural. it's doing something natural that chronic depletion was preventing. the "superpower" is the brain's normal function restored to a level most modern men have never experienced because they've never retained long enough for the BDNF to do its work.
you might be more neurologically hooked on short-form content than you realize.
a 2026 study found that highly preferred short videos significantly deactivated parts of the brain involved in cognitive control the systems that help you regulate behavior and resist impulses.
fascinating.
we keep calling it “just scrolling,” while spending hours inside an algorithm designed to capture attention, deliver instant stimulation, and keep you coming back for the next hit.
maybe the healthiest thing you can do is occasionally put the phone down and let your brain experience boredom again.
One of the best productivity decisions I have made recently is to stop passively listening to music. It is utterly insane how normalized it has become to be nonstop streaming music into your head. It is a vice and should be treated as such.
If you are trying to do any real thinking, which you should be doing 90%+ of the day, music will absolutely degrade your thinking process. Humans did not evolve to have rhythms blasting into their ears all day.
It is scary how afraid we have become of silence; of hearing our own thoughts.
Your phone is a pacifier for adults. Discomfort arises, IG reels instantly opened, nervous system numbs. You're self soothing, because it's easier to "check your phone" and escape the pain of your existence than sit through the first 20 minutes of overstimulation withdrawal. You've forgotten the magic that exists in long states of boredom (child like imagination) and all it takes is to experience that is going on a leisurely walk with no destination.
For the past week I’ve been drinking mighty salts in the morning, I put it in cold water and take it to the beach, with a 0.5L coke.
-2g taurine
-100g B1(Thiamine hcl)
-200mg magnesium malate
-1g sodium
-800mg potassium
-150mg caffeine
-20g carbs
I like the ingredients and it’s really quenching, @MightySaltsCo cooked with this one.
6 ideas from Reality Transurfing that rewired my whole life:
- Most of your goals were never yours. School, your parents, the crowd handed them to you. Chase your own and the effort disappears.
- The right door doesn't need breaking down. If you're forcing it, it's not yours. The path meant for you opens quiet, and it only opens for you.
- Stop making it so important. The harder you need something, the harder reality pushes it away.
- Heart first, mind second. Your heart picks the direction, your mind builds the plan. Do it the other way round and you lose.
- You don't experience reality, you experience your version of it. Change the story you're running and the world reshapes to match.
- You don't need permission. Not from your parents, your boss, or the crowd. You can just decide.
Choose your own reality because nobody's coming to hand it to you.
people don't question because people see life linearly.
if something is free (and not from God) we will eventually owe something, so we pay with our soul/life force/creative energy.
look around you, is it not evident?
A man who is genuinely good will age slower than a men who is not. something in the body knows when it is being ruled by the right thing, and preserves itself accordingly
