BREAKING: U.S Democratic Representative Ro Khanna has become the first American congressman in history to be detained by Israeli settlers while on a visit to the West Bank.
Today, I was in Garissa for the Nikah ceremony of my colleague and friend, Dr. Farhan Abdi Mahat, as he married Yasmin Dekow, daughter of Garissa Township MP, Hon. Major (Rtd) Delow Barrow.
The wedding brought together an impressive gathering of national and county leaders, business leaders, professionals, elders, family and friends from across the region. I was especially humbled when the Chief Guest, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale @HonAdenDuale, warmly introduced me to the congregation and generously acknowledged the sophistication and advanced capabilities of Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL).
Throughout the ceremony, I found myself reflecting on how deeply Garissa has shaped my own journey.
It was here, in October 2005, fresh from specialist pathology training at University of Nairobi, that I requested to be posted to the then Garissa Provincial General Hospital, becoming its first consultant pathologist - and the first pathologist to serve the entire North Eastern Province since Kenya’s independence. I came at the invitation of the then Medical Superintendent, Dr. Khadija, wife of Hon. Farah Maalim, not fully appreciating then how remote and underserved the region was. That decision became one of the greatest blessings of my career.
The laboratory I found then had enormous challenges: essential investigations were unavailable, equipment was broken, reagents were scarce, staff morale was low, and clinicians had understandably lost confidence in the service. With the support of a committed Hospital Management Team, we rebuilt the laboratory into a centre of excellence, helping Garissa PGH attain internship training status later that year.
Without realising it then, Garissa changed me. It was my epiphany. It shifted my vision of pathology from an academic discipline to a lifelong mission of bringing world-class diagnostics to underserved communities through innovation, entrepreneurship and practical service. That experience planted the seed that eventually led me to build modern laboratory networks and, years later, found DKL @DKLDrKalebiLabs. The vision has never changed: making advanced, high-quality diagnostics accessible to all.
Returning to Garissa over two decades later, and hearing DKL recognised in the very place where that dream first took root, was profoundly moving. It reminded me that Allah’s plans often unfold in ways we cannot foresee. Sometimes the places that shape us most are the ones we least expect.
To Dr. Farhan, Yasmin and their respective families, thank you for allowing us to share in your beautiful day.
بارك الله لهما وبارك عليهما وجمع بينهما في خير

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich claims U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff told him:
“I WON’T LET TWO MILLION NAZIS LIVE NEXT TO YOUR CHILDREN.”
At the “Vanquishment Conference,” Smotrich said Witkoff personally promised the ethnic cleansing of Gaza.
He also said Israel will have to permanently annex territory in Lebanon.
ISRAELIS ATTACK CNN CREW AND U.S CONGRESSMAN🇺🇸🇮🇱
A CNN crew was attacked by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank village of Sinjil, with their vehicle surrounded, damaged, and its tires slashed. Israeli police said several suspects were detained carrying knives and clubs.
U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna also said armed settlers blocked his delegation in the Hebron Hills, surrounded their vehicle with M4 rifles, cursed at them, and held them for over an hour.
Khanna said Israeli soldiers arrived but stood by talking with the settlers instead of helping, adding: “THE ARMY WAS ON THEIR SIDE.” Police later intervened and allowed the group to leave.
Saudi Arabia is exploiting Somalia's fragility, using Romanian, Ukrainian, South African, and Colombian mercenaries for a 9-month training program.
Relying on foreign mercenaries exposes Riyadh’s sinister agenda.
U.S struck Azadi Sports Complex
This was full of civilians
They also hit a girls dormitory inside this complex
As I traverse Iran it’s clear this was intentional targeting of civilians.
Most people’s timelines are filled with news of football matches. The international media and social media influencers are not mentioning Gaza at all. Even news agencies are barely talking about Gaza anymore.
Help now: https://t.co/1j2S3RoAgU
Palestinians in Gaza feel forgotten and that’s a reality, not an assumption. It is reflected in exposure in media but also in donations. Funding for organizations and mutual aid groups has dropped drastically and as a result there’s a massive drop in community kitchens and water distributions.
The videos taken by The Sameer Project to reflect the truth of what’s happening in Gaza have taken a major shift in the last two months. Increased rage and frustration as more and more community kitchens shut down. What is the world waiting for? More children starving to death? More cases of deaths from preventable diseases?
Gaza needs your material support. Give now to our General Fund: https://t.co/1j2S3RoAgU

31 years after the Srebrenica genocide, grieving families in Bosnia lay to rest 10 newly identified victims. Clothed in traditional green shrouds, the coffins are carried by mourners to the Potocari Memorial Cemetery on the anniversary of the July 1995 genocide.
The victims, ranging from 20 to 56 years old, are among the more than 8,300 Bosniak men and boys systematically killed by Bosnian Serb forces. Decades on, forensic teams continue the painstaking work of identifying fragmented remains scattered across mass graves, offering delayed closure to families who have waited a lifetime to say goodbye
Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been buried at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, after days of funeral ceremonies that drew hundreds of thousands of mourners.
Khamenei was killed on Feb 28 in a US-Israeli air strike on the first day of the war with Iran.
The criminal, disgraceful murderers of the martyred Leader, whose names are fully documented from the highest to the lowest ranks, will carry their dream of a peaceful death in bed to the grave.
One of the most haunting moments of the Srebrenica genocide was when Bosnian Serb soldiers forced Ramo Osmanović to call his son, Nermin, out of hiding with false promises of safety.
Nermin surrendered, and both father and son were later executed.
